This is pretty open question but can anyone give me some pointers about how to diagnose fairly infrequent HDTV recording glitches? I never see the problem on my TV with inbuilt HDTV decoder so I know it's not a problem with the received signal. The symptom is loss of 1 to a few seconds of video. Only happens once an hour but with no pattern I can detect. Should I look at TV tuner, disk, CPU or what?

P.S. Otherwise quite pleased with MP after quite a bit of tweaking.

As a first step, set the TVService process priority to High if not set that way already. I had a lot of stuttering in my recorded files and it turns out i was running out of cpu when TVservice spikes. Let the task manager running with update speed set to high and see the spiking cpu usage.

Thanks morten99 but I already tried that. Actually I set the TV service priority to realtime. Doesn't seem to have made any difference.

Are you using a dedicated HDD for recording? If not, glitches might result from other processes writing to the HDD. Windows indexing is a likely candidate because per default this starts to run when there is no user activity.

Try to use a dedicated HDD and turn off indexing and see if that helps.

Thanks Imokles. Yes, I am running only 1 HDD at the moment. I was thinking about adding another disk to get more space so will give it a try.

Well I put a new 1TB HDD in my PC on the weekend but no joy. :( I'm still getting recording glitches at about the same frequency as before.
