My HTPC is connected to my receiver with an SPDIF coax cable and SAF v4 is setup to passthrough DTS and DD audio to the Receiver (i.e. the Receiver does the decoding). A screenshot of how ffdshow (in SAF v4.0) is setup is attached.

The Receiver does not support HD audio so DTS 5.1 is all it can decode. I understand that every DTS-ES 6.1 encode contains a DTS 5.1 stream, correct?

So, how would I go about getting SAF v4 to extract the DTS 5.1 stream from a DTS-ES 6.1 encode and pass this through to the receiver as DTS 5.1?

At the moment, I cannot hear any audio that is encoded as DTS-ES 6.1.

I have just read that post and cannot see how it answers my question. Am I missing something?

AW: How To Extract DTS 5.1 From DTS-ES 6.1 Audio (SAF v4)?

Q: Can LAV Audio decode DTS-HD?
A: Kind of. On its own, it cannot. But, LAV Audio supports using the ArcSoft DTS decoder, which allows decoding of full DTS-HD. Just drop the "dtsdecoderdll.dll" from the TMT3/5 Codecs directory into LAV Audio's directory, and enjoy. NOTE: This only works on 32-bit!
I think that's the only way. I couldn't test it right know if DTS-ES plays fine with your settings and/ot the .dll

SAF v4 utilises FFDShow, not LAV. Or am I still misunderstanding something?

I would switch but everything is working so well (other than DTS HD audio) on the system I am worried about changing anything :).
