How to get 16:9 aspect ratio on 4:3 (1 Viewer)

Ok im sure the answer to this is already out there but for the life of me I can't find it, so I must be searching for the wrong thing or im just blind?

I have a 32" 16:9 Plasma and through the DVI connection it only accepts 4:3 resolutions. (non dvi resolutions are blurry)

So I have it setup to display 1024:768 and everything looks fantastic but how do I get the videos to play in 16:9? Currently they are letterboxed because mediaportal thinks its a 4:3 display. None of the aspect ratio options work like zoom as they all cut of large amounts of the picture.

Using media player classic I can set it to "Widescreen 16:9 display" and it looks perfect can I do anything like this in media portal?

technically Zoom or stretch should give you the desired affect, does stretch do teh same thing?

Sorry for got to mention, stretch does work but then my 4:3 videos are stretched. Is there anyway to have it think its a 16:9 screen so 16:9 videos play full screen but 4:3 go letter box on the side?

I have a Pioneer 43" with the same resolution (1024 x 768), here is what to do:

In MP go to Settings - Screen Calib. - Screen Calib.
Leave the overscan alone! But press enter/ok until you arrive by Pixel Ratio Adjustment. Now change this until you have a square box (In your case your Pixel Ratio have to be 1,33)

And now everything will be correctly scaled within MP for your TV (including skin and pictures!)

Dear god I love you...

in a strictly platonic sort of way Fixed the problem perfectly.

I had seen the pixel ratio adjustment mentioned in other threads but had no idea what they were referring to, the step I was missing was to "OK" through the overscan settings.

Thanks again this has been bugging me for a long time.
