Something like this should work, it can pass through the HDMI and it extracts the Audio and put it to an Optical port, so should be able to get audio from both cables at the same time.

Damn, and I have Octava device that does the same thing BUT 1. payed it 5 or 6 times more, 2.went through all the trouble of "skinning" it black

I'll have to resolve this later! I've got a completely different issue going on right now - I'm getting no audio from MediaPortal when playing any sort of media at all through my TV after setting the TV as the default audio device. I get audio playing anything in any other media player on the computer ... but not through MediaPortal!!
