I got this tv-card:
http://www.avermedia.com/cgi-bin/products_digitvtuner_hybridcardbus.asp?show=2
(only then the version not compatible with MCE, just another versiontypenumber)
AVERMEDIA E506

When i installl MediaPortal i can only search DVB signals. But i just want the analog signals. Ho can i fix this?

In the normal software of Avermedia i do can choose for analog signals and can see TV.

I am from The Netherlands (essent)

I am still having issues with this very card too and posted details on Pastebin and have had no reply. I have given up with MediaPortal. I don't know why they cannot use WDM driver access successfully as PowerCinema and Home Theater 2 has no issues at all. I have decided to go and pay for PowerCinema after waiting for over a year for MediaPortal to get things right.

Well I have decided to give up on MediaPortal because I really don't like the way that entries have to be added to the CaptureCardDefinitions.xml file in order to support a card. There are various reasons for this:-

1. When new drivers are released then the card will no longer work requiring possible modifications to the CaptureCardDefinitions.xml file.

2. Why can't MediaPortal developoers just access WDM drivers like PowerCinema, iMedian and Showshifter with a lot of success. The excuse they have about instability does not hold water when others (especially iMedian) has achieved this flawlessly and furthermore the others will support future driver releases and future TV card releases WITHOUT messing around with configuration files.

3. Newly released TV analog TV cards will not work and again requires modification to the files. It is an absolute pain in the neck.

4. Just see how many problems users have encountered with MediaPortal (Can't Create Graph, No Signal Detected, etc) compared to the forums of other PVR software. MediaPortal has very good potential but I have waited too long and I have since bought the first class iMedian for analog TV.

I come from Meedio and Meedio doesn't detect the card properly. I tried PowerCinema but it didn't find any channels.

I gave a try to graphedit, but I can't find how to create a graph using the analog part. Otherwise I could figure out something with Meedio. But I have seen a great potential in mediaportal. But as always things doesn't work like it should.

BlackSun, you need to uninstall AverTV before using PowerCinema. When AverTV is installed then only it can switch on the TV card and no other software.

    Mickie, answers...

    1. Yes, but can be easily fixed for now.
    2. It's being worked on atm and proving very successful just be patient. Also with the current method we can support far more cards than the application you mentioned hands down.
    3. Yes for me...
    4. iMedia - pfff, it won't work with two of my cards.
