    I know the "quality" list; 1. DVI 2.RGB 3.S-video 4. Compositt.

Is there no way to connect a STB to the computer using (at least) SCART? Suprised that you arre "doomed" to have a poorer image quality when using STB, which are superior to analog etc. when directly connected to a TV.

The spesific STB I'm refering to has SCART, compositt and S-video out (one of the few that does?).

    I've been wondering this, too...

It seems like TV capture cards are limited to S-Video primarily. I was wondering if since I have a DVI port on the back of my STB (DirecTV) could I split this and send one signal to my plasma and the other to a free DVI port on the video card and still be able to do hardware encoding somehow?

For now I just switch my input on my plasma between my TiVo unit (going bye-bye this weekend finally!) and the DVI input from my STB to my plasma...

Damn... D-MAN informed that it is not a HW-card.

Incredible that a way of getting a decent/good quality picture from a STB is absent.
