How to? Have option of Artist, Album, Song in first page of Music Selection? (1 Viewer)

Hi all,

I love streamed MP, have been using it for a long time but I really struggle with the style of navigating music, it seems really clunky and hard to use.

Wondered if anyone is using a plugin or mod that makes the music navigation easy and streamlined?

Failing that I was wondering how I could have the option to choose to navigate by Album, Artist or Song on the first page of the music menu (rather than having to choose 'change view' from the side menu) and then progress on to the alphabetical listing choices.

Anyone know a way to do this?

Yeah I looked at that but I don't think it will work, I want the first sort option to be a choice of

ARTIST
ALBUM
SONG

Before it drills down into alphabetical listings for the option chosen.

That's what the above tutorial does. Set all views like described and set view to 'ALBUM ARTISTS'.
When you enter Music section you'll see a list of artists, when you click on one, you'll get icons of all the albums from that specific Artist, and when you then click on the album, you'll get the tracklist

I think you are asking for a dialog box that automatically pops up when you first enter music that asks what database view you want to use (instead of pressing F9 and choosing view). This is not currently possible. It might be possible if you edited the xml files, but this would be a difficult task and I don't think you would have much luck persuading a skin developer to add this ability to their skin.

What you are describing is album artist view in the music setup guide above / link in my signiture.

I guess driffndodd wanted a top level directory in DB view to list all Views. You could compare this to the Shares View, where on the top level you see all Shares that are set up, if you go to the top level of the DB view you get a list of views like

Album
Artist
Genre
Song

I would appreciate that as well, but it is no skin issue, it is an enhancement request to MP.

Actually it might be possible at skin level as it's just the dialog box coming up default and only having 3 views set to choose from. Actually it would be 4 because shares would be displayed.
