Hello all

I have a good working setup, but I am soon to move to a solid state drive, and will be taking the opportunity to do a full Windows and MP reinstall.

When setting up my channel lists, there are several duplicates of many channels.

Sky sports channels are a good example.

I would like to know what criteria I should use for choosing which particular instances of channels I should select for my channel list (signal strength? signal quality? audio type? anything else? etc), and where I can see that information during setup

Many thanks for the help!

:D

can you provide some more info on your setup?

Why are you having multiple instances of the same channel for instance?

Hi Rik

Thanks for the reply.

As I understand Sky broadcasts several different instances of various channels (maybe on different transponders?).
The Sky sports channels are a good example.

Those should be actually different (regional?) channels if i am correct (Of couse i do not have sky). Are you sure they are the same and that you can watch them?

Hi Rik

Yes, definitely the same, and I can watch most of them.

Ive viewed them in DVBDream aswell where I can see signal quality/strength, Audio type etc.
I *think* this is the information I need to choose which instances to select, though Im very new to all this, so not sure.

Thanks again

Combining channels is normally used by people who have for instance a DVB-S card and a DVB-T card. These networks will both have some of the same channels.
By combining them into one channel MP makes the determination which card to use, so you do not have to worry about that.

For DVB-S containing the same channel multiple times i do not know how people handle it.

Thanks Rik

In the end I used a different app (DVB Dream) to find out details about signal strength etc and made sure I chose the best list of channels in MP TV Server config.
