I have fanarts (backdrops) for my movies on local drive with file name pattern : local_catalog\fanart_Alternative Title (Original title if any) [Picture number].jpg. All fanart are located into the same directory. Is it possible to reload it to Moving Pictures?

Moving Pictures currently can pull backdrops from the movie folder or from the backdrop folder itself. Your naming convention though is pretty intricate so I think you will have a hard time using artwork named like that. The easiest solution is to name the image backdrop.jpg (or whatever extension) and place it in the movie folder. The various filename pattern fields accept wild cards like %title% or %filename% so you might want to look into that, but I think this will be very challenging for you.

I was also wondering how I could do this... although I know alternative backdrops are planned in future releases, it makes it hard when some are terrible in the db.

I don't have my movies in there own folders, so should I just try naming it the same as the movie and dropping it into my movies directory ?

with backdrop.jpg - everything is fine, but I have most of movies into one folder. Is it correct that I can put fanart_%title%.jpg instead of backdrop.jpg|backdrop.png|backdrop.bmp into MP parameter?

btw, where could I find the DB field names? At least most common used - title, translated title, actors, etc...

and one more question - where could I find scraper (xml-file) for backdrops from themoviedb.org? I mean the source file to see how it works.

I've discovered that "fanart_%title%.jpg" works OK. I put all .jpg files to the movie's catalog and run Movpics. It found 37 of 70 .jpg files.

The two most important are %filename% and %title%. As you have already discovered, %title% is the title of the movie. %filename% is the name of the video file (or the first video file if it's a multi-part movie) without the extension. So you could do %filename%.jpg if you have your backdrop files named similar to your video files.

I will try to post a full list of variables that can be used tomorrow.

    Thank you for the answer.

And could you check the previous question: where could I find scraper for backdrops from themoviedb.org?

The scraper for backdrops for themoviedb.org is built into the plug-in. On the Importer Settings tab click the Backdrop Sources button and it should be in the list. If for some reason it is not click the gear toolbar icon and click Reload Default Data Sources.
