Oke, all.

I made a lotta changes to my movingpictures content. In the catagories
and backdrops etc etc. Took me very long. And i dont wanna mess things
up if i upgrade or, crash the system.

So, how do i make a good backup, so i can restore it without hassle ?
(sorry if this is already on the forum, i couldnt find it)

Should i just backup the folders

C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\database
C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\thumbs
C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\skin\Blue3wide\Media

and when i need it, place it back ? and then it wil be the same ?

Thanks all !

Yes backing up the key folders/databases/thumbs will help in the event something goes wrong however it is not a fail safe in the event somehow your database becomes corrupted (which has happened to me when I was experimenting with a multi-seat environment).

To protect against database corruption etc. I highly recommend using the new program/script that has been being worked on for a while located here: https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/moving-pictures-284/app-copy-artwork-details-movie-folder-71649/. Basically it takes your current thumbs/backdrops and saves them to where your movies are located in the form of a folder.jpg (cover art) and backdrop.jpg (fanart backdrop). It also takes it a step further and can create an nfo file which will hold all your customized information you have setup for your films. If you don't have each of your movies separated into their own folder you really should and to accomplish that you can use this other program/script to do that: https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...ame-folders-based-info-moving-pictures-76187/.

It's a fairly easy process and I just successfully used the backed up content to completely replace my database/thumbs with fresh backed up content. Using the XBMC formatting makes it especially easy for the importer to pull your information in. It's as simple as changing your primary import scraper to the XBMC (local) one.

I make periodic backups of
C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\database

This holds all of your categories, and also all of your movie data. If you ever have the need to revert, you can shut down mediaportal, restore the movingpictures.db3 file, and relaunch.

I wouldn't worry about skins and thumbs unless you do a lot of customization in this. If the backdrops or covers are missing, moving pictures will re-download them.

I also do this and it is incredibly easy to do. Hell of a lot faster than if you ever have to re-import your movies and your database backups are corrupt. I don't want to say it's fool proof, but it works very well.
