    I'm using powerscheduler to put my htpc into standby after 5 minutes of inactivity, and wake up for scheduled recording. Works fine, except that in 1.2.3, htpc goes to standby after 5 minutes while playing a TV recording. This did not happen with 1.1.0.0, and I have all the related settings the same as far as I can tell.
    What did I miss?

    Thanks.

    Do you mean I need the client plugin WITHOUT 'Only allow standby when on home screen' checked? (in other words, enable the plugin, but with no settings checked)
    Actually, I believe that is what I had in 1.1.0.0. Thanks.

    For my system I enabled the client side of power scheduler and I set the timeout to 10 minutes, you can use any time. I did NOT set the "home screen" option, so my system goes to sleep after 10 minutes of idle time. If you set the "home screen" option I'd expect the system to sleep only if you go to the "home screen" but I have not tried that.

    Yes, this seems to work.
    Thank you.

    I spoke too soon.
    If I enable the client PowerScheduler (MP PS) and set a timeout (5 minutes), and do not set a timeout in the server PS (TV PS), the machine never goes to standby. Do you also have a timeout set in TV PS?

    Worse,
    1) MP PS enabled (whether I use the timeout setting or not)
    2) TV PS set to go to standby after 5 minutes
    3) either use the remote to go to standby, or let TV PS initiate standby
    4) TV PS wakes up the system to record
    5) TV PS subsequently initiates standby again after the recording completes
    6) I wake up the machine later
    7) then MP is dead (only an all black screen).
    8) I use Task Manager to kill MP, the background windows screen appears, and the machine goes to standby immediately.

    If I don't enable MP PS at all, the above problems don't happen -- but then TV PS initiates standby while a recording is played back.

    I have some debug logs, but haven't been able to make anything of them. MP.xml is with MP PS not enabled.
    (logs also posted in another thread -- I apologize if that's poor form)

    When you are having the "wakeup client" problem, did the TV Server wakeup?
    Is TV Server still in suspend?
    Do you have "Wake On Lan" enabled on the TV Server? This might be a BIOS setting.
    For Client MePo Config -> "TV Client" -> "General", have you enabled Wake On Lan?

    I have a timeout set for both TV Server and Client. The following is a summary of my settings.
    #### client ####
    shutdown idle = 10
    only on home = "on" recent change
    mode = suspend
    advanced = both off
    #### server ####
    shutdown idle = "on" 10 minutes
    wakeup for various events = "on"
    mode = suspend
    advanced, everything "off", all times set for 300 seconds
    EPG, I have this setup to run mc2xml/xmltv for EPG updates every day at noon
    Network Monitor, Prevent Standby = "on", 100 KBs

    My server is a prehistoric, XP Pentium 4 that does not support "Wake On Lan", if my server is not running I need to walk to a different room and push the power button to wakeup the TV Server. That's part of the reason I enabled Client side "only on home".

    A comment on PowerScheduler and TV Server settings, I'm never 100% sure when setting changes are really "set", at a minimum I always use TV Server "Manual Control" to "Stop" and "Start" the server and sometimes I reboot so I'm "really sure" everything is using the new settings.

    A different option for controlling the Client/Server PowerSchedule options is "PowerScheduler++". I've never tried this and since my system works I'm not planning to try this. (if it ain't broke, don't fix it). If you want to look at this option see the following.

    <shamelessPlugStart>My recommendations: Install PS++ on all machines, set it to the apropriate profile, let it set the windows power save settings as required and be done with it.</shamelessPlugEnd>

    For me this works great.

    It's all on one machine, so both MP and TV process are 'awake' to the best of my knowledge. I don't believe individual processes can be in standby (suspend); it's a whole computer function. They both show up in Task Manager. But the screen is completely blank, and no remote of keyboard input changes that, so I can't say for sure what either is doing.
    I do not have 'wake on LAN' enabled anywhere - no need for a single machine. Otherwise my setting are similar to yours:
    #### client ####
    shutdown idle = 5 (or not enabled - both ways fail with blank screen)
    only on home = "off"
    mode = suspend
    advanced = both off
    #### server ####
    shutdown idle = "on" 5 minutes
    wakeup for various events = "on"
    mode = suspend
    advanced, everything "off", all times set for 300 seconds
    EPG, I have this setup to run mc2xml/xmltv for EPG updates every day at 5:04 am.
    Network Monitor, Prevent Standby = "off", 100 KBs

    Another question: there is an MP config setting something like: 'directly turn on TV when ---'. Do you have this set?
    Does this really mean 'turn on output to TV?'. TV via hdmi is the only display I use.

    My TEMPORARY work around is to enable MP PS but with all options off, and set TV PS to 30 minutes. (when watching a recording, there is sure to be a commercial within 30 minutes, causing me to skip using remote, which resets the shutdown time.)
    This is the setup I used with 1.1.0.0, except TV PS set at 5 minutes. Worked perfectly - no shutdown during playback.

    I'll look into PS++ --- but, I would like to know what is wrong with this.
    Don't any other single machine users have this problem?

    May have found the 'problem'. At least no blank screen after several attempts.
    I did not, but do now, have checked the enigmatic 'Apply workaround to fix MediaPortal freezing on resume on some systems'.
    Had foolishly hoped this was no longer needed on 1.2.3.
