By the way, there is another bug here:
When the above happens, even though a recording is not started, the TVserver locks up your TV card and it can't be freed anymore. Only a hard restart of tvservice helps.

Right-click Computer, manage, services, find TV service, right click on it, select properties, "Log On" tab. Change "Log on as" to the account you want to use.

Hope that helps :)

Yep, got it! Thanks!
I had no idea what accounts I could choose, I was thinking of 'Administrator' or 'Guest' but that was wrong, so I looked what the other services were using. The were all using either local service, network service or local system.
I changed TV service from 'local system' to 'local service' and that did the trick!
Could this change cause other unwanted behaviour in MP? (and why is it not set as a local service after a standard MP installation?)

Unfortunately it still doesn't work :(
I thought it did, but it doesn't.
Is there somebody out there that has recording to a NAS working???

    I use NAS (samba3) for recording (windows7).

    1. make an account on NAS (for example mediaportal with a password)
    2. make an account on htpc with same user name and password.
    3. set up tvservice to use the account.

    I'v given it another try.
I made a new account and added the account to the system default group of my Synology NAS. (The group privileges of the system default group were already Read/Write for all maps, and that is the account that I used before.)
I've added a new administrator account to Windows 7 with the same username and password as the new account on my NAS.

Now, how do I set up tv service to use this account?

Start > Settings > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services

if you have issue after setup the service, try it:

Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Local Security Policy
    Local Policies - Security Options

Network security: LAN Manager authentication level
    Send LM & NTLM responses

Minimum session security for NTLM SSP
    Disable Require 128-bit encryption

Start > Settings > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services

It took me quite some time to understand what you mean with my dutch Windows, but you probably mean:
Start > Control Panel > System and security > Administrative tools > Services ;)
THen I located TV service > right mouseclick > properties >Tab: Log On
The tvservice was set to log on as local system account
Do I have to change it to the second option and fill the 'This account:' part with the name of the new account I just made for both the htpc as the NAS? For example 'Mediaportal' and the password I chose?

Minimum session security for NTLM SSP
    Disable Require 128-bit encryption

Do you mean here that I hav to disable this for both clients and servers?

    only the tv server[/QUOTE]

no I ment there are 2 places there where you can disable the 128 bit encryption:
Minimum session security for NTLM SSP for servers and
Minimum session security for NTLM SSP for clients

I disabled both now and recording seems to go ok! :D
lets see if it stays that way,
    thanks a lot!:)

I'm experiencing trouble recording to my NAS. I read some topics, but unfortunately, I can't get it work:confused:.

I have a user 'stream' on my NAS, which has access to all the necessary folders. After reading this topic, I made a local Win7 user 'stream' and setup this user to start the TVService services. When I do this, I get an error message that the Service cannot be started due to login issues. How can I setup the locale user, and grant permission to start Services?
