How to share movies/tv series form different htpc (1 Viewer)

Hi all,

I am currently running MP on my pc. I am planning to create a HTPC on my bedroom and I was thinking to connect that HTPC with my pc since all covers, subtitles etc are saved on this pc.

The question is: is it possible to share movies stored in one pc/hard disk without saving all the info (fan art mainly) all over again on the new HTPC? I am using the TV-Series and Movies plugin.

You could copy the database files for TVseries and Moving Pictures but its going to have the wrong file paths for the movies.

They are both pretty good at automated importing, why not just run the importers again? You could copy all the fanart from one machine to another and I guess they will be smart enough to not try to retrieve a file that already exists during an import.

thanks for your reply. What I'd like to have is a NAS containing all fanart, files, subtitles etc and having client-machines attached to each of my tv which demand the movies to the NAS server. Is it achievable with mediaportal?

I don't know, I've never used MePo in a Server / Client setup or looked at stored centralised fanart. For me the importing is so seamless and automated I never even know its doing it so just leave it stored on each client locally and they just share the actual movie files from my server.
I do believe it does have limitations and MePo 2 is being targeted as having better support for the whole server / client setup.

As a short side note, this will be possible with MediaPortal 2 and its central database
