Hello Sirs,

Is here any possibility to upgrade the current installation of MediaPortal 0.2.3 to 1.0 RC1 ?
The installation offers me to remove the old version and install the new one. But I have a lot of plugins and configured settings. Is it possible to export all the settings from the old version?

Thanks.

I think you might be best of staying where you are, I have just changed and it looks like I will be trying to upgrade RC1 to 0.2.3 soon. It is looking like recording doesn't work anymore. If you realy want to change there is a button to export your chanels and scedualed recordings (import and export buttons where your TV channels are listed). there is no button to export your recorded TV programs database and it looks like the auto importer for them doesn't work properly either.

That's not very helpful, for me everything works fine.

The databases and thumbs folders are your backup, copy those to a external drive, and restore each Database 1 at a time and check it has caused no problems.

Big one for me was the video db and the thumbs\video as updating these correctly takes ages, so i only restored this and scanned the rest, music etc to complete my install.

Be aware there have been some corrupted db's causing high cpu use, which is just one thing rtv is trying to avoid, that's why he said no, also make sure you have the latest version of any plugins you have manually installed.

Also remember that devs will ignore all bug reports that are based on the unclean installation of 1.0 RC1.

Could I just say that I think its pretty harsh that devs seem to be so dismissive of users wanting to retain all the information in their databases (apart from PARANOID, who seems to fully understand the issue here).

I have spent forever correcting and editting info in the videoDB for my movies collection. Also, making sure the correct thumbs are used for the movies in the my videos section when using MP. I have about 300 DIVX movies. I have manually named certain TV channels too. As well as music folder views, video folder views etc etc.

Is it possible to export ALL config settings and databases and re-import them for MP1RC1? If you are concerned about corrupt databases, is there a way for the RC1 installer to check and verify databases and settings prior to uninstalling V0.2.3?

Please, please please could devs at least understand that many users may be put off upgrading because they will lose this information (If they follow the "official" installation procedure).

    Many thanks,
    Colin

Think what tourettes\rtv mean is, if it does bugger it up don't come crying to them that it happened.

Views etc, i really would do those manually, as some things have changed, as i said for me with 200+ movies, rescanning and getting correct film and cover takes at least 4-5 hrs, so that info is important to be able to move over.

With manually doing most things from start of install to last config, with a few skins\MPTv-series going on as well took me a hour to do, which i think is pretty good going.
