Hi,

Is there a way to get a correct aspect ratio when viewing films in a 2:35-1 aspect ratio on a 16:9 screen? All the available aspect ratios in MP leave the image stretched one way or another. I am using ffdshow with the MP internal video player. My TV is a panasonic plasma with a native resolution of 1024x768 connected via VGA. In other players, for example Zoomplayer I can just select anamorphic and I get the correct aspect ratio with black bars top and bottom of the screen. I suppose what I need is a way to expand the image to the vertical limits of the screen but keep the aspect ratio intact. I am using MP version 1.0.0.0.

Many thanks.

Tom

Unfortunately it does not. The aspect ratio is correct, but the image is in a small box in the centre of the screen, rather than to the edges. Any idea how to fix it?

Edit: Actually on second thoughts maybe I'm getting mixed up with 'original' and 'normal' I'll check when I get home. In any case right now there is no setting which shows the picture correctly. I read on another post though that someone had a similar problem and fixed it by uninstalling and reinstalling codecs, so maybe I'll try that.

original = original resolution, no scaling
normal = scales video to touch the edge of the screen without altering aspect ratio

I think the problem is that even though my TV is 16:9 the native resolution is 1024x768, a 4:3 resolution, so the picture would look correct on a 4:3 screen and in fact MP is doing everything right. What I don't understand is how zoomplayer can show it with the correct AR in anamorphic mode though??

ok, there is an option in MP Configuration (i think under general) that enables scaling, you should enable that.

"In MP go to Settings - Screen Calib. - Screen Calib.
Leave the overscan alone! But press enter/ok until you arrive by Pixel Ratio Adjustment. Now change this until you have a square box (In your case your Pixel Ratio have to be 1,33)
And now everything will be correctly scaled within MP for your TV (including skin and pictures!)"
