    Hi!

My HTPC is running fine and stable - but i'm not very happy with the image quality at all. I think it could be made better and perhaps we can create a howto thread with the steps - where to look / what to check and so on - if already such a thread exist - sorry - i've not found it.

The only thing i've already done is to execute this registry patch:
1.) Add ATI HD Registry Tweaks registry patch if you have an ATI Card

What else can be done to improve image quality deinterlacing and so on? Calibrating the TV (How)? Add some filters?

    Thanks for all your help.

    Stefan

Here's my experience (at least with my setup):

    - Use Vista + EVR
    - Use hardware DXVA2 if possible (for mpeg2 SD and also for HD content). I use Powerdvd8 codec.
    - Use ATI registry tweak to make SD content expand to PC levels
    - Disable denoise and all postprocessing in ati CCC - set vector adaptive deinterlacing (3C in powerdvd settings)
    - disable cool&quiet in bios if you have ati processor (this really made the difference to me)
    - calibrate your tv (i use a thx dvd)
