Yes, lots of MP plugins already use fanart.tv, it is probably the next best site for music fanart if htbackdrops.com never comes back online.

It's a pitty this fanart handler has a SPOF (Single Point Of Failure). Would be nice if the plugin uses multiple sites, like how the subtitle downloader plugin works.

Disagree because multiple sites = multiple copies of same fanart, would need a photo comparison module. The way fanart handler works is to maintain a local db, so you should still have 3 backdrops for every music file that is older than 4 weeks.

You could built a mechanism that would drop all the images of one artist if there are less than three and fanart site library is down and then loads the three new ones from other fanart library site.

I was wondering why i didn't get any Music backdrops after a fresh OS and MP install on a new HD. I guess i picked the wrong time to do it. Hope the site comes back or an alternative site is used soon.

Ahhh, nooooo! I just cleaned-up my MePo install for 1.4 in which I also deleted my fanart images. Now they are gone, I couldn't get them back using recurva.
I really miss this feature already, I really hope we can work out an alternative for MePo, that would be awesome.
