    I think I discovered something . . . . explain if I am wrong . . .

    I had moved my WMC DVR captures from my HTPC to my Win 2012 R2 home server. I can play these files with Cyberlink PowerDVD, but MP won't see and cannot find them. Apparently -- again correct me -- is it true that a simple installation of MP without creating a server accessible by multiple clients -- that such a simple installation requires the files to be local to the HTPC?
    If the files are accessible on your network, which I guess they must be if PowerDVD can play them then you should be able to find them in MP2.
