How would you like your hard disk: rare, medium or well done?
Hi,
I did it: I totally fried my hard disk.
While optimizing my CPU load with HD content by using MPC-HC and DXVA I finally managed to have my CPU load as low as 15%, My video card is (as expected) off loading my CPU, but will therefore also become much hotter (around the 70-80 degrees Celsius).
Because my Hard disk was located next to my Video card the heat was transferred, heating up my Hard disk to 60 degrees Celsius.... It did not like that
0) and showed drop outs (not spinning up any more resulting in occasional no Hard disk found while booting, BSOD's when writing a lot of data to the drive, etc.)
Anyway, the positive part is that I now have bought a 2.5" notebook (sata) drive: works like a charm, very very silent (apart from the head parking click when shutting down) and best of all: even lower power consumption.
Just thought I post my experience here (not for the "I told you so" replies LOL)
