I am running a dedicated stand alone HTPC which only every goes to sleep (S3) and is woken by either MP or my remote. I am on MP 1.3 (I intend to updrage soon). MP is always running (from an SSD)

Over the last 2-3 weeks, I have had a problem, perhaps 20% of the time where I press 'On' on the remote, the PC starts up (the HDD LEDs are flashing madly!!) but after mayby 5-6 seconds, it then goes back to sleep. I can only get the PC to come on by powering off & on again at the wall.

I have made no changes to the PC for months, and never had this problem before.

There is a similar problem here - @chrisonline did you ever fix this?

Any ideas where to look? I am 99% sure I cannot collect logs as it is not turning on to actually log anything..

try upgrade to PS++ (install via mediaportal extension installer) it has lots of code fixes and will be the official replacement for PS in the next version of MP (which is very close btw) If you still get the problem after that then it is something that might be worth fixing, as problems with the original version of PS are probably no longer relevant.

Thanks, once a gain for a great answer. BTW, when is the next MP release? I might just wait for it as opposed to upgrading to 1.4, and simply have to live with the problem for a bit.

When it's been thoroughly tested and their are no major bugs. Can't give dates because if there is a delay everyone gets upset... The release cycle is 3 monthly, which would be mid september, but I think MP1.5 will be a prem baby, so you should wait for 1.5....

however you should install PS++ now.

Well, for the record, an upgrade has solved this.

I did have an (older) version of PS++ installed with 1.3 - I upgraded to 1.4 and the latest PS++ so one of these has fixed it:)
