    Hi,
I'm new here so please be gentle!

I wanted to ask a couple of questions about using the HVR-1300 card. I'm not sure if I actually have any problems which is why I've not posted the template details. So here goes....

    1. What is the correct way to install a card like the HVR-1300 (with both an analog and DVB-T tuner). I have them installed as two sep. cards (card1 and card2). I've set them up with the channels assigned to them, and given them different priorities. I can use both analog and digital stations in MyTV with no problem. However MP does not seem to understand that only one of these cards can be used at once, so it will try and schedule recordings for both cards. Is there some way of telling MP that they are the same device?

    2. Can anyone tell me if it is possible to use any of the parts of this card at the same time. So for instance what I really want to do is to use the composite (or S-Video) input on the analog side of things to read data from my NTL box, while at the same time possibly using the DVB-T tuner to watch/record other programs. I'm not really interested in using the analog *tuner* part of the card. Is this possible, or is this strictly an analog *or* digital card?

Many thanks for any help you can provide

    Andy

Anyone any input particularly on item 1. After doing some testing on item 2 it looks like you can't use the card to do both SVideo and DVB-T at the same time....

If MP is recognising 2 seperate cards that is what you have, ok one will record only analogue and one digital, but with a half decent system should record one channel, whilst watching another.

Input via your s-video, should also be possible, but as i do not have this setup, cannot help.

    Best Wishes

Hi Thanks for the reply. The problem is that two of the "cards" recognized by MP are actually on the same hybrid card (the HVR-1300) and you can only use one of them at once. I don't seem to be able to get MP to recognize this very well so sometimes it will schedule recordings for both parts at the same time. This type of card seems very common so I was wondering how others had them set up.

    Thanks again

Hybrid cars are two tuners on one card, same as my lifeview duo, so my reply above stands, they are treated as 2 seperate cards and should be treated as such.

If you can autotune each individual card then they are being recognised ok.

Try combine, will give MP choice of either tuner for recording same channels on both cards.

Also make sure you have latest windows/card driver updates.

    Just to add to above.

If you have program guide running select a program to record, get red recording icon, yes.

Then select another channel, that both cards share and see if you can watch it ok.

    Hi again Ray,
I think the problem is that this card can not tune two channels at the same time. It's basically one card that can either tune an analog station or tune a DVB-T station. It is not a duel tuner card (at least as far as I can tell it isn't), but MP seems to see it as a duel tuner. If I follow the steps above then when I try to tune the second station I just get a blank screen. If the other "card" is not busy then it tunes fine. So maybe a truth table would help....

    dvb station analog station Result
    off on Ok
    on off Ok
on on 2nd station to be tuned does not work.

    Hope this makes sense...

    Hello.

I have the same card, and it has two tuners but only one h/w mpeg-encoder, at least, that's how I have understood it. I'm only using the analogue part of it, since the DVB-t signal isn't good enough where I live.

For the time beeing, I think you have to keep track of the encoder-use yourself.
