Didn't hit those first 2 errors this time, but still got the lock up.

Here are some logs for you to chew on while I saw logs. I'll check back tomorrow.

Thanks for the speedy replies and all of the help so far. I hope we can lick this. If my wife were a client I'd be fired by now!

    Hi again litljay

Got your PM. Technically I shouldn't be online right now as I'm at work. ;)
Having said that, I *have* looked at your logs and I see a probable symptom of the issue.

    In the MediaPortal log:

That 8007000E error code apparently means "out of memory" or "not enough storage". How much space do you have on your timeshifting HDD?

Oh! Thanks for taking the time, then.

I can't get to the computer right this second because the better half is using WMP to do a workout video (kind of a latter-day Jane Fonda without the traitorous pinko stuff).

I can't remember exactly how big the HDD is, but I seem to recall it being somewhere in the neighborhood of 200G. At the worst, I know I wouldn't have put one smaller than 80G in there because I store the TV recordings on it. As soon as I can, I'll double check the size and the timeshifting path.

    edit
300G HDD, with 5G of that currently in use, and 1G of system RAM.

    The timeshifting path is the default (C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server\timeshiftbuffer)

I'll keep googling that code, but I'm grasping at straws. What else should I be looking for?

Well, my card no longer finds any channels on a scan, so it may have been my card all along. Fortunately, Hauppauge is working with me on it (for the time being). We'll see how it goes and I'll report back.

You haven't upgraded to 1.2.0a/1.2.0b have you? There a number of reports about ATSC/QAM scanning missing channels (or not finding any at all) in 1.2.0b...

Fortunately, Hauppauge is working with me on it (for the time being). We'll see how it goes and I'll report back.
I'm also still here if I can be of any assistance. I'm a little uncertain what the next step would be if it is determined that your card is fine, but lets see how things go...

MP had begun to not scan for channels, and the error you pointed out in my logs looked suspiciously like a SQL error to me, so I decided to run with the theory of a corrupted SQL installation and uninstalled MP entirely. Before I reinstalled, I decided I could test that theory by using a program with an inbuilt database and quickly installed installed WinTV from an image on my server here. It won't scan, either. I called Hauppauge and they want me to run the latest version, which I can't do without a disk, so I have to wait for one to come in the mail (boy, were they antsy about that!). I doubt the latest version will work, and I hope they can give me some satisfaction on the card...

Latest update: I'm back where I started. The HTPC sat dormant for a few days until I got the latest WinTV installed. It scanned and tuned channels just fine. MP scans OK now, but still won't tune with all the same behaviors as before. I'm itchy about my card intermittently not working, but now that it is working, it works fine in WinTV and not MP. Where do we go from here?

    Hi again

I would be "itchy" about it too. So you tried it in MP? Some TV Server logs would be helpful to see where things are failing...

OK, so this has been sitting on the back burner for a few weeks, but I fired up the machine tonight from a cold power-down, started the Watchdog, launched MP, started TV... and the program hung.

    Logs are attached.

    Hi again litljay

Good to hear from you again. :)

Well I can tell you that TV Server successfully tuned the channel. As usual it is MP that is the problem:

2011-06-10 20:21:43.671875 [Info.][MPMain(1)]: TSReaderPlayer: Unable to start playing

Once again we have a TsReader problem. You may not like this, but I'm really suspicious that the WinTV software that you have installed is causing problems. Earlier in the logs I see this:

    2011-06-10 20:21:00.843750 [Info.][FilterChecker(5)]: FilterChecker: Found TsReader.ax from 4/26/2011 located at C:\Program Files\WinTV\WinTV7\HCWTSReader.ax
    2011-06-10 20:21:00.859375 [Info.][FilterChecker(5)]: FilterChecker: Found TsReader.ax from 11/17/2010 located at C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\TsReader.ax

What that means is that WinTV has installed a "TsReader" component that could conflict with MediaPortal's TsReader. It is possible that MediaPortal attempts to use the wrong TsReader since the Hauppauge TsReader is newer than the MediaPortal custom TsReader. I can't be sure of that, but like I said, I really strongly suspect it - something like that could definitely cause this kind of problem. If it is at all possible, I strongly recommend that you uninstall WinTV 7 and see what happens after that...
