Hi all,
I have been working with MediaPortal for a long time ago. I promised myself to take advantage the TVE3 engine and I have just updated my TV card from hauppauge PVR-150 to HVR-4000. It was nicely to update Mediaportal to RC3 as well.
As everybody says, I bought HVR-4000 because I was really interested into both DVB-S2 and TDT High Definition channels.
Installed drivers and TV Cards nicely.
The problems I detect are:

1) Analog Channels are not detected. Nothing. Having a look to forum, I noticed some problems but with a new TVLibrary.dll worked. Moreover, at RC3 is incorporated as a default this .dll file. But for me it is still undetected them.
Also, when I scan Radio channels a message appears notifying that "TV Card does not support radio". And HVR-4000 features suppports FM band radio.

2) DVB-S2 Channels oriented to 10.2ºE Astra.
In the tunning parameters exist two .ini files, that are:
- 19.2ºE Astra 1C-1E-1F-1G-1H-2C
- 19.2ºE Astra 1C-1E-1F-1G-1H-2C-S2 (supposed that is for Astra HD)
In the configuration TV-Server, in LNB setup just appears one satellite for 19.2ºE Astra and my TV Card just detected BVD-S channels but no for DVB-S2.
Even check "enable DVB-S2 tuning features".
Could someone to specify how to detected them?

3) And the last question is for TDT Channels. Nothing here but HVR-4000 does not possible to scan TDT HD Channels although in my region I am surely exist these channels.
Somebody knows how to set up them. In these case, no comments I read on any posts on forum.

I am really disappointed as I thought by that time I coud be enjoying with these new channels, for these reason any support I would apreciated.
Waiting comments, regards,
Henry_Castle

lost hope

It seems this card will never work as it should. It's very difficult to configure or find a good MC program to use it at full power...either in Windows or Linux. Too bad. I am disappointed too.

Hi

I have used a pair of HVR-4000s in the UK for the last year and a half with MediaPortal (set up as a single seat TV server installation).

I will say that I have not used them as a hybrid card yet, I used the DVB-S part for 6 months and am currently using the DVB-T part. I have not tried the analogue part but I know that you do need to ensure you have installed the file in the MCE_soft_encoder folder that comes with the drivers but is not installed automatically with them. That said, I know there have been issues with the analogue but I believe this may have been fixed as described in the https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/development-91/test-bugfix-hvr-4000-hvr-2200-analog-part-44807/ thread, so as long as you are using a new enough SVN (after 29/09/2008) it should work.

I currently use the 4.6b drivers in Vista (although when I first set up MediaPortal in April 2007 I used XP Pro and they worked OK for me then).

I am not sure if this helps at all, but I thought I would let you know that the HVR-4000 should work with MediaPortal (well TV Server, I can't vouch for TVE2).

Thanks Mew for your kind cooperation but no change at all yet,

1) Regarding analogue channels remain the same. I had already installed MCE_soft_encoder according with some posts and had already seen the post you mentioned.
Drivers installed are the same you mentioned, version 4.6b. As I am using RC3 I think that carries the svn you refer to.
I think not to go ahead and avoid some headaches. Most of the analog channels are through DVB-T. I have read that in some near future version of TVE3 we will have the possibiity of set channels manually. Let' see then.

2) With respect of DVB-S2 channels are solved. My idea to set these channels was wrong. I thought to receive them I needed to set the satellite as double LNB, one of then with Astra HD. Looking with attention DVB and DBV-s2 channels were mixed. I have created a specific group called Astra HD with channels that Astra broadcast as High Definition.

3) After looking into DVB-T HD I think Mediaportal does not work with them. Is t correct?

Hi Henry_Castle

I must admit I never used the analogue part of the HVR-4000 because it was software encoded and thought it might take up a reasonable amount of CPU. I bought a PVR-500 (which uses hardware encoding) to handle the 2 main UK channels that were not FTA DVB-S at the time (one has since moved FTA and it is rumored the other will also go FTA). All the main channels are on DVB-T so that works OK for me at the moment.

With regards to DVB-T HD, in the UK I think that they are planning to use DVB-T2 when scheduled transmissions take place. I don't believe you can buy a DVB-T2 PC card or set-top box yet. I think that when they did test transmissions using DVB-T that these could be received OK. Elsewhere I would assume if DVB-T is used for HD then using TV Server you should be able to view this on MediaPortal (a bit like people can view BBC HD which is broadcast on DVB-S at present (rather than DVB-S2)). Unless anyone knows any different I would have thought that DVB-T HD transmissions should work OK with TV Server an MediaPortal (if you check the forum threads I think this may be the case in Australia and New Zealand). The only reason I could see they would not is if a non-standard protocol is used (such as ITV HD using a H.222 data transmission via DVB-S rather than H.264 video).

I have had bad luck with Mediaportal regarding everything which needs a software encoder.
If you search the forum many people had these problems too.
I have read that using program called GraphEdit you can resolve many problem related to software encoders but you need a degree in order to use it !

I have problem running MP on my HVR-4000 too... I was waiting for the RC3 hoping this solve the problems with the card. The problem is always the same: channel scan. Any help or suggestion will be appreciated.

I can made as many trial as necessary.

P.S. MediaPortal RC2 without TVserver work correctly.
