strange, probably has something to do with the filters you have installed, is there anything in the log files? it will be helpfull if you set logging to full and post the log

that mp kicks you out every time is maybe due to some buggy encoder or something, i don't know maybe anything in the system log?

can you view the video with other programs like Dscaler? can you recreate the graph manually and view the video?

Sorry i'm a complete noob in the world of tv tuners and mediaportal - how do i log? is that with the test tool thats installed with MP?

Also i dont install any other filters other than the Hauppauge one. And i have no idea how to create a graph?

Help im totally confused, i would really appreciate it if you would 'dumb' it down for me;)

Thanks

So all in all, I cannot use my Hauppauge HVR 900 (65008) for analog tv as it is not supported by SoftMCE encoder? Or is that just needed for recordings?

PS: The link to the article is wrong.

thx in advance!

Hi,
I have Hauppauge HVR-900 and analog part is not working with MP. Analog part is working correctly with it's own program called wintv. Tv-server detects card correctly. But i'am not able to find any channels, few times with good luck i managed to find few channels but then i got this unable to get graph error. I have also installed this softMCE from hauppauges page, and set that to use in MP configuration ( Tv->mpeg2 video decoder -> main concept (hauppauge) mpeg video decoder.

Any tip how to solve this issues since i have been stucked to this issue over one week :confused:

HVR 900H is not HVR 900

I have a HVR 900H but in the BOX says only HVR900

With HVR-900H I can see DIGITAL TV but It is not possible to me to see also Analog Channels.

Moreover... I have to use one time Haupagge WinTV to initialize drivers at windows startup. Without starting WinTV, Mediaportal shows TV in BLACK!!!

It is a driver problem... beacouse when I hybernate several times my HTPC, MediaPortal WORKS PERFECTLY. I have to use WinTV only after windows restart.

Using Graphedit I obtain similar response... Render in BLACK!

No error codes... so it is very strange

I have another thread in this forum with my carddefinition implementation for HVR-900H

Without this bug, MP WORK NICELY!!! GOOD JOB!! THANKS!!!

hvr-900 analog

This trick solved main part of my problem. Now i'am able to scan channells and also watch them, but not always. Since i'am getting this "no audio & video detected" error. But anyway i would like to share this tip.

-Stop tv-service
-go to c:\windows\system32\hauppauge\
-type regsrv32 /u hauppaugemcesmpeg.ax
-type regsrv32 hauppaugemcesmpeg.ax
-start tv-server again
-scan channels from tv-server

I also would like to thank nickvdh for the help. I have a HVR-950 and was having the same trouble with the graph. Searched the forums for 950 and came up wth this thread.
Anyway, I am no GraphEdt expert, so I took nickvdh's moniker and modified it to work with my 950 (which registers as an HVR-980 when installed). FWIW, I also made sure to have the latest driver release for this product first. I downloaded hauppauge_cd_3.4d1. Do a google search for that and you'll find it.
Then I replaced the HVR-950 NTSC entry in the CaptureCardDefinitions.xml file with my new moniker:

<capturecard commercialname="Hauppauge HVR-950 (NTSC)" capturename="WinTV HVR-980 Capture" devid="vid_2040&pid_6513">
<capabilities tv="true" radio="false" mpeg2="true" mce="false" sw="false" bda="false"></capabilities>
<tv>
<interface cat="encoder" video="" audio="" mpeg2="0"></interface>
<filters>
<filter cat="tvtuner" name="WinTV HVR-980 TVTuner" checkdevice="true"></filter>
<filter cat="tvaudio" name="WinTV HVR-980 TVAudio" checkdevice="true"></filter>
<filter cat="crossbar" name="WinTV HVR-980 Crossbar" checkdevice="true"></filter>
<filter cat="capture" name="WinTV HVR-980 Capture" checkdevice="true"></filter>
<filter cat="encoder" name="MainConcept (MCE) MPEG Encoder" checkdevice="false"></filter>
</filters>
<connections>
<connection sourcefilter="tvtuner" sourcepin="0" sinkfilter="crossbar" sinkpin="0"></connection>
<connection sourcefilter="tvtuner" sourcepin="1" sinkfilter="tvaudio" sinkpin="0"></connection>
<connection sourcefilter="tvaudio" sourcepin="0" sinkfilter="crossbar" sinkpin="3"></connection>
<connection sourcefilter="crossbar" sourcepin="0" sinkfilter="capture" sinkpin="0"></connection>
<connection sourcefilter="crossbar" sourcepin="1" sinkfilter="capture" sinkpin="1"></connection>
<connection sourcefilter="capture" sourcepin="0" sinkfilter="encoder" sinkpin="0"></connection>
<connection sourcefilter="capture" sourcepin="2" sinkfilter="encoder" sinkpin="1"></connection>
</connections>
</tv>
</capturecard>

Now everything is working splendidly. Sometimes this MP stuff ain't easy, but it's fun when it all works out!!!
Argghhh! I've been trying for a week to get MP up and running with my Hauppage HVR-950. I've read and reread til blue in the face. I came across this post from wewantphil where once he replaced some subtleties in the CaptureCardsDefinitions file he was good to go.

No such luck for me I have copied his entry verbatim and still get the Unable to create graph error when I select it. Why me? Why me? Why me? Here's my entry FYI:

<capturecard commercialname="Hauppauge HVR-950 (NTSC)" capturename="WinTV HVR-980 Capture" devid="vid_2040&pid_6513">
<capabilities tv="true" radio="false" mpeg2="true" mce="false" sw="false" bda="false"></capabilities>
<tv>
<interface cat="encoder" video="" audio="" mpeg2="0"></interface>
<filters>
<filter cat="tvtuner" name="WinTV HVR-980 TVTuner" checkdevice="true"></filter>
<filter cat="tvaudio" name="WinTV HVR-980 TVAudio" checkdevice="true"></filter>
<filter cat="crossbar" name="WinTV HVR-980 Crossbar" checkdevice="true"></filter>
<filter cat="capture" name="WinTV HVR-980 Capture" checkdevice="true"></filter>
<filter cat="encoder" name="MainConcept (MCE) MPEG Encoder" checkdevice="false"></filter>
</filters>
<connections>
<connection sourcefilter="tvtuner" sourcepin="0" sinkfilter="crossbar" sinkpin="0"></connection>
<connection sourcefilter="tvtuner" sourcepin="1" sinkfilter="tvaudio" sinkpin="0"></connection>
<connection sourcefilter="tvaudio" sourcepin="0" sinkfilter="crossbar" sinkpin="3"></connection>
<connection sourcefilter="crossbar" sourcepin="0" sinkfilter="capture" sinkpin="0"></connection>
<connection sourcefilter="crossbar" sourcepin="1" sinkfilter="capture" sinkpin="1"></connection>
<connection sourcefilter="capture" sourcepin="0" sinkfilter="encoder" sinkpin="0"></connection>
<connection sourcefilter="capture" sourcepin="2" sinkfilter="encoder" sinkpin="1"></connection>
</connections>
</tv>
</capturecard>

Please help me lest I quit a loser. Thanks!
