I just replaced Haup 1250 with 2250. How do I get two channels to record simultaneously? (1 Viewer)

OK. I previously had set up MP with a Hauppauge 1250 card. I just got the 2250 with dual tuner and I want to record two shows at once. I was recording OK with the 1250, but I am going to set up an HTPC eventually and needed to use the 2250 in my current setup until I can do so.

The MP seems to recognize that there are two tuners (I disabled the 1250 so it won't show up) but my first attempt to record two OTA ATSC channels, each of which are picked up clearly, resulted in only one recording. I was able to see clearly two OTA channels using PIP with the WinTV app that comes with the 2250 card. I set the tuners up as hybrid tuners but I'm not positive that I did it right.

Please advise.

Secondly,

One of the reasons I want to use MP rather than WinTV is the guide feature as an aide to automatic program recording, but I cannot get that to work at all. I realize that this will need a separate thread unless you can post a link to a proper guide. The forum threads I looked at did not help. All I get when I run the guide is "no program info available."

Thanks,

RGP

    RGP,

If only 1 tuner is working you should double check if the channels are mapped to both tuners. See the following section in the MePo wiki and look at both of your 2250 tuners, in the Card dropdown I see two WinTV-7164 BDA ATSC/QAM Tuners for my 2250 card, I mapped the channels to both cards.
    http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/1_...Server_Configuration/03_TV_Channels/2_Mapping

With my 2250 dual-tuner I never used/enabled the hybrid option. In my area my OTA channels are ATSC, I only configured the ATSC tuners and disabled the analog tuners. My area does not don't have any analog channels.

Since you are in the USA you need to look into one of the online EPG options to get this setup. Some options are Schedules Direct, xmltv using either mc2xml or WebGrab++, or WebEPG using imdb.com. If you use WebEPG make sure you download the updated imdb_com grabber file from the forum. Look at the following for setup info.

OK. I checked the channel mapping and it seems that the majority of channels were already on both. I adjusted so both would have the identical selection.

Since I also record from an analog source (the stuff stored on my DVR cable box), I need to use the analog as well.

    Good. :)
So, have you tested recording two channels again, and if so what were the results?

In that case the hybrid configuration that you mentioned is correct.

Did you manage to get EPG sorted?

Here are the logs to see if it helps determine what I'm doing[DOUBLEPOST=1380594821][/DOUBLEPOST]about to try EPG.

    Best recommendation for Florida USA?

Please clarify: what is a DVB?[DOUBLEPOST=1380595797][/DOUBLEPOST]OK. I set up 2 simultaneous recordings. I stopped one after 10 minutes and I can see it in the directory. The MP is acting like the other is still running, showing the red pilot light at the top of the screen, but I do not see the file being saved in the directory.[DOUBLEPOST=1380595934][/DOUBLEPOST]I see from the text that DVB is a non-US option. I will try WebEPG.

I'm not sure what I'm meant to be looking for here.
I see a bunch of successful manual recordings; I don't see any attempts to record two programs at the same time. When did you attempt to do this?

    about to try EPG.

I defer to RonD. Since I'm based in New Zealand I wouldn't have a clue what the best service would be... but why don't you just pick one and try it?
Note: SchedulesDirect costs $25 per year with a 7 day free trial. The other options are free.

It is a standards body like ATSC.

    Digital
    Video
    Broadcast

They define TV and radio broadcast standards which are used almost everywhere in the world except the US and Canada.
The US has ATSC, cable and DirecTV/Dish.
The rest of the world has DVB-T (terrestrial), DVB-C (cable) and DVB-S (satellite).

The DVB EPG grabber is not going to help you. I suggest you disable it.

    re: DVB understood

I was hoping the log gave you relevant settings as well.

I just did the 2 channel record as detailed above. It seemed successful, but I do not know where the second recording is stored. It is not in the same directory. Suggestions?

check if you set the same recording directory for both tuners. I've WebEPG in the past, right now I'm using mc2xml and xmltv. Both give about the same EPG info.

The log files don't tell me all of your configuration details.

Recording locations and file names are configured here:
    http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/1_...ation/07_Recording#Custom_paths_and_filenames
    http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/1_..._TV-Server/Configuration/07_Recording#Folders

When you recorded FOX today (Scheduler: Time to record WSVN- FOX 8:58 PM-10:00 PM Manual (WSVN- FOX)) that recording was saved as "C:\Users\Public\Recorded TV\manual\manual - SE -_7.ts".
When you recorded ABC yesterday (Scheduler: Time to record WPLG - ABC 7:00 PM-9:00 PM Manual (WPLG - ABC)) that recording was saved as "C:\Users\Public\Recorded TV\manual\manual - SE -_6.ts".

Those filenames are pretty "bare". You may need to change the filename pattern for your recordings to avoid one recording being overwritten by another.

I agree wholeheartedly. I will try to figure a better scheme from the link you provide.

Is there any way to change file names post-recording?

If I want to move the files to another directory, do I need to move all the associated files or just the .ts file.[DOUBLEPOST=1380678150][/DOUBLEPOST]
check if you set the same recording directory for both tuners.
I just now pressed the button so all files save to same directory[DOUBLEPOST=1380678886][/DOUBLEPOST]

Rather confused by this thread. Exactly which is the right .xml file to download?
