I don't want to remove the title prefix from a movie title (i.e. "The Matrix" -> "Matrix, The", but I don't want to manually remove it from the Sort Name of a hundred movies, either, after scanning them into the MyVideos database. (Zzzzzz). Any way a feature can be added to MyVideos to remove the title prefix just from the Sort Name?

    Thnx

It is my understanding (from the screenshot), that this option puts the displayed "The" to the end of the name (i.e. "Matrix, The"), and not only effect the Sort Name separately. I don't want to loose the proper displayed name. You can do it with a manual change in config, but with 100-200 "The"s to change .... after the fact. :( (Motion Pictures can be set to ignore the prefix without altering the name)

Am I right in understanding that we want to sort titles by name with the ability to ignore prefixes?
Then in the case of The Matrix we should leave The Matrix in the name and in the name field for sorting write Matrix, The? Or Matrix?

We can add an option, only for the Sort Name, and then if the Strip title prefix flag is set, and the flag is set only for the Sort Name, then the name field will contain the title as is, and the sort field will contain something else.
But this will not be reversible, or we will have to update the database when the flag is set or unset.

Just remove the prefix from the sort name field. :) I usually edit some sort names using a numeric value, sometimes also using a common name different than true title. (such as the Alien franchise films). I would not like to have to fix the sort field each time a scan is performed. ;)

I just sort by year of release in the collection. It's easier.
Just remove the prefix from the sort name field.
Let's say I add an option to remove the prefix in the sort field. Then the question is, what should happen if the database is already scanned. And I enable this option? And then when do I disable it?

Thank you ... now my brain hurts!

As far as I can tell, in Moving Pictures, ... and I have not manually edited the sort titles ... there is no setting or flag to ignore prefixes, but my Titles are always sorted as such (the prefix is removed in Sorted By, and everything is lower case) "The Addams Family" is always sorted to be with "Addams Family" and "The Lion in Winter" and "The Lion King" follow "Lincoln". Moving Pictures doesn't ask.

Whether to do or do not, I cannot say. For me it is helpfull.

I have never corrected the sorting field, to be honest I never knew that this was possible, and it is not clear why.
