Re: AW: iMON VFD MiniDisplay driver for MediaPortal 1.1.3

[*]Does the display scroll continuously or does it stop scrolling after the text has been displayed for one time?

So i hit send text: Text appears, scrolls and STOPS once it reaches the end. Text stays there but does not loop back to the beggining.

[*]Does the display use a proportational or a fixed font (each character has the same width in a fixed font, in a proportational font character widths are different, e.g. you can display more 'I's than 'O's on the LCD at the same time)?

Funny thing here. It displays the font and size I have set on IMON tool at........

IMON UTILS > FRONTVIEW > COMMON tab

I set a comic sans font there, so it's not a fixed font. I bet there must be a command on the api for you to set an especific fixed font and size, and you will have to send that command whenever you want to change the font.

[*]If the font is fixed: How many characters can be displayed on the LCD?

It depends of the size of the font you used. If you want tell me how many rows x colums you need to fit, and i will search for a fixed font with the desired size.

[*]Does the LCD support other characters than ASCII (like German umlauts, Cyrillic, Chinese, Japanese characters)?
[/LIST]

Since it displays TTFs...... It must display them!

Thanks for your support :)

Dude, thanks to you. It just took me a couple mins to test all that. Bet it will take you days to fix all this stuff.

Re: AW: iMON VFD MiniDisplay driver for MediaPortal 1.1.3

Testing frase: "SoundGraph, Inc. iMON Display API"
iMON firmware ver. 0x380102
imon manager version 8.00.0408

Does the display scroll continuously or does it stop scrolling after the text has been displayed for one time?
- Shows ONLY once. So it stops with "MON Display API" --> Text tahoma size 10.

Does the display use a proportational or a fixed font (each character has the same width in a fixed font, in a proportational font character widths are different, e.g. you can display more 'I's than 'O's on the LCD at the same time)?
- Proportational font.

If the font is fixed: How many characters can be displayed on the LCD?
- ...

Does the LCD support other characters than ASCII (like German umlauts, Cyrillic, Chinese, Japanese characters)?
- Shows æøåô fine.

With minidisplay i was able to have two lines of text. However i'm not sure how to do that with soundgraph

Re: AW: iMON VFD MiniDisplay driver for MediaPortal 1.1.3

I'll add my results, but they're the same as everyone else

@LCD owners who like to support me:

I have the following questions:
  1. Does the display scroll continuously or does it stop scrolling after the text has been displayed for one time?
    Displays once, then stops
  2. Does the display use a proportational or a fixed font (each character has the same width in a fixed font, in a proportational font character widths are different, e.g. you can display more 'I's than 'O's on the LCD at the same time)?
    Proportional font
  3. If the font is fixed: How many characters can be displayed on the LCD?
  4. Does the LCD support other characters than ASCII (like German umlauts, Cyrillic, Chinese, Japanese characters)?
I tried symbols : [iî¨téè&%ù¤$£²§| and that worked fine

Thanks for your support :)

Thanks again for all your hard work !!

Re: iMON VFD MiniDisplay driver for MediaPortal 1.1.3

FONT RESEARCH:

As I said in my previous post, the IMON API tool shows the fonts set in the IMON configuration tool.

In the aviable fonts, there is a FIXED one, very clear and easy to read, that supports foreign characters: "Teletext" and "Teletext 43". I have windows vista, and I havent installed those myself, so i bet they come with the IMON software.

Font "Teletext 43", Size 10, Bold : 8 characters, more than 8 it scrolls
Font "Teletext", Size 10, bold: 10 characters, more than 10 it scrolls
Font "Teletext", Size 10, NON bold: 12 characters, more than 12 it scrolls

http://www.mas-r.es/temp/teletext_size10_nobold.JPG

http://www.mas-r.es/temp/teletext_size10_bold.JPG

I would choose TELETEXT SIZE 10 BOLD, its VERY clear to read. just 2 characters lesser than nonbold.

Sorry for the shakey photos.
