It would be awesome to have Moving Pictures process and import TV recordings. It would be going like that:

  1. Select TV Recording
  2. Trim TV Recording (to remove adverts and recordings before/after movie. Manual of course)
  3. Convert TV Recording to Xvid or another codec to reduce file size. (User selectable. There are many open source command line converters, so it should not be a problem.)
  4. Copy TV Recording to folder with Movies
  5. Import movie into Moving Pictures database

What do you think?

AW: Import movie from TV Recordings

Here this works since long time ;) Added the path of TV recordings in Moving Pictures, so all recordings are automatically imported ;)

Yes but there are several problems with just adding recordings to MoPi:

    1. Recordings are in the separate folder than movies (unorganized)
    2. Movies have to stay inside recordings, which can make recording list very long and hard to find actual recordings (not movies).
    3. Recordings are usually very big in file size (much bigger file size than movies encoded with let's say Xvid).
    4. Recordings usually include some television program before and after the movie and advertisments.

My main point in first post was 1-4.
