For a while I having the problem that the Import Wizard in the MP-TV Series configurations freezes when importing my TV Shows. (screen in attachment)
Sometimes it freezes half way of the process, sometimes from the start.
I updated to the latest version, but it still doesn't solve the problem.

Any help?

Thanks

First off, when you want to provide log files to fix the problem, make sure you capture the problem inside the log files, otherwise they are pretty useless. It's like telling your car mechanic that you have car trouble and leaving your car at home.

The only thing the log files clearly show is that MovingPictures has a corrupt database.

And adjust MP-TVSeries log mode into debug verbosity, otherwise they don't reveal much even if you do capture the problem. You do this from within MP-TVSeries configuration screen.

Sorry I didn't know I had to change the log mode in MP-TV Series. I added the 3 different types op debug logs to be sure.

I also experience long loading times with MovingPictures configuration, probably because of the corrupt database.
Is deleting the current database the only option I have to resolve the problem?

Yes, MovPic has a lot of self-repair build in, so on these errors that you are having the best course of action is to delete the movingpictures.db3 database file and start fresh. You might be lucky in finding an auto generated backup from a previous upgrade of the plugin. But you can also use this oppertunity to rebuild your database with a new scraper such as the IMDb+ one ;)

As for debugging MP-TVSeries, you are using the MediaPortal shortcuts to debug, you start it and you close it. However it is not capturing the problem. It's like saying to your car mechanic the car has issues while driving over a bumpy road and all your mechanic does is start the engine and stop it and says "engine runs fine". You have to actually drive it and not just any road, you have to drive over that same bumpy road.

So if your problem is crashing of MP-TVSeries, then you have to see the actual crash occur and at that moment the log files will hopefully contain the info needed to find out what is going on. If it's a delay, then you have to try multiple things to capture the delay and add additional info as to what actions/steps you took and what you experienced.

Another thing you can do is back up your TVSeriesDatabase4.db3 database file to a secure location and reconfigure MP-TVSeries fresh. You only need to import a few shows/episodes and see if problem still happens then. If it's gone then you pretty much self-diagnosed a database corruption already and should just proceed rebuilding the database.

Sorry for the late response. I've been quite busy :)

I rebuild my MovPic database with IMDB+. So normally it should be error-free and loading times of plugins in configuration are much faster now.

But I never experience problems when using MP-TV Series within MediaPortal. The problems occur when trying to update my TV Series database from within the Configuration.

So is there a way to capture the errors while in Configuration?

This worked with MovingPictures, but not with MP TV-Series. The import wizard still freezes randomly. Strange!

    One problem fixed :)

The log files are *always* generated wherever you are. It's all a matter of what gets put into the log file, which relates to the log mode verbosity setting you adjust inside MP-TVSeries config (putting MediaPortal itself into debug mode is also a good idea then).

Then you simply open the 'log' folder via Start Menu -> All Programs -> Team MediaPortal -> MediaPortal -> "User Files" -> and you should get a window explorer view of all your user data, so look for the folder "log" and in there you will find the "MP-TVSeries.log" in question.

If it is small enough you can just use a website such as paste2.org to provide it (and give a link to the location), or attach the file to the post, or if it's big ZIP it up first and then attach.

For now providing the "MP-TVSeries.log" file should be enough, but in worst case the problem relates to other aspects of MediaPortal as well, in which case you would have to ZIP up *all* of the log files.
