    STuNZ,

I want to give this a go. Can you tell me what version of MyFilms is "compatible" w/ MP 1.0.1.0?
The D/L page shows very old builds.

I had installed the My Films (ANT database Importer) build.
When I try to run the config I get an unhandled exception.
(I'd love to insert the actual image, but apparently don't have that skill set
(I've tried to link to images stored at MediaFire...)

If I elect to ignore the error message my config doesn't show the dialog you describe.
    << where's the image, dummy!>>

    So having said all this:
Steps 2 & 3 seem to one with the config page I get.
Would step 5 correspond to "Search Path for File Read"?

In order to "uninstall" the plugin, do I simply remove the dll from the appropo MP folder?
When I tried to "unregister" it I got:
"The specified module couldn't be found"

Am I off the deep end here?

I think all this would be a moot point if I only could grasp the MP concepts for database population. It can not be as bad as what I get (very few movies import with very little metadata). I say this because every other aspect of this app looks and behaves rather efficiently, so it must be me

    I seem to be a l i t t l e confused here

I just did the install of MyFilms with relative ease although I did get a nastygram.
<< Unhandled Exception: Length can not be less than zero >>
... which I chose to ignore...

I've toyed with multiple databases from DVD Profiler.
The lone issue I have is the naming convention matching.
M$ doesn't seem to appreciate movie titles such as:

Eric Clapton: "One More Car, One More Rider"
    ----------------------------or---------------------------
    O' Brother, Where Art Thou?

So what do I do about those "illegal" DOS characters?

The way I understand it, you must populate the Notes Field of DVDP to get "unqualified" names/paths to propagate.

In other words, I can't name my folder by the DVDP movie name due to the character issue.

I have tried using ISO's, but that went nowhere as they falter in playback.
So, like others here, I have elected to use VOB's for playback and ISO for archival.
I can always just unrar the archive to my "MovieTitle\Video_TS" folders.

And, WOW, talk about options! MyFilms has more than Wall Street

    Any suggestions?

The "illegal" movie names are due to the limitations of XP/DOS. You can fix them by getting rid of all the unacceptable symbols from the movie title. I use Ant Movie Catalog ("AMC") instead of DVD/P to do most of the work, since it works better with MediaPortal and MyFilms imo. I use the Source field (in AMC) to specify the location of the movie file, e.g., X:\Brother, Where Art Thou\VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.IFO. It is working great for me.

    Cheers,
    Jaz

I use 4.8.0.C which was posted by Zebons in the forums [here]

Key thing to realise about My Films is that it works directly off the DVD profiler export file rather than importing it into it's own data base. If DVD Profiler has the meta data (and it always does) then My Films should have too.

In order to "uninstall" the plugin, do I simply remove the dll from the appropo MP folder?

Yes you can just delete it, (or disable it in the MP config). It doesn't need to be unregistered.

    Thx guys.

jazbo8: I'll load AMC tonight and give it a look.
I actually did my renaming in DVD Profiler, it all worked well.
Since AMC seems to a tighter integration I'll need to see for myself__;)

STuNZ: Allis a go on this end__:D; I'll just need to look @ AMC.
The DVD Profiler import / re-import really isn't that big a pain, but if AMC will work "tighter" I'll go that route.
There seem to be enough "loose" issues with my system__:mad:

Again, I really appreciate your help!
