Without the desktop a desktop program can not run. So MP is loaded while the metro start screen is shown and a little later the script kicks in to show the desktop. There is no additional loading here (except a very small script). If you find a quicker solution, great. I don't care much for boot time anyway as my htpc is in sleep most of the time.
