I run what's called a single-seat configuration (server+client on same machine). Don't let the whole server+client thing confuse you, the server part just refers to the fact that the TV-Engine is separate from MediaPortal (the client). This is better for a few reasons, one of which is the fact that one can't crash the other one. TV-Engine 3 (the tv server) is better than TV-Engine 2 as far as stability, flexibility, and compatibility goes. It will also allow you to stream TV over your network or over the Internet.

Keep in mind when you install MediaPortal that TV-Engine 2 will automatically be installed with it. You could give it a try and see how it works for you. If you have any problems then you can go through the 10-15 minute process of installing TV-Engine 3.

Watch the tutorial link in my last post.

The inbuilt TVengine is dead as far as development goes.

People can continue to add unsupported cards to it if they want, the capture cards definitions will be updated and anyone please feel free to help them to do it, just do not expect support from the Devs as things have moved on.

Thanks, hope it did not sound to much like a lecture :)

The only problem that anyone has had with this card is standby and resume issues, both MP standalone and TVE3 both have workarounds for this now, so that worry is gone.
