Information needed to automatically parse a TVSeries entry (1 Viewer)

Alright, I swear I searched and I searched - so please let me know if I need to refer elsewhere.

Is there a particular way you should have MP name recorded shows so that they are automatically picked up and parsed by TVSeries?

Right now, Zap2it/xml (which I use for listings) doesn't include episode or season, so I can't automatically include that in the recording's name, so I typically have to go in and find the episode and season in wikipedia or something, and manually change the episode's title for TVSeries to recognize it.

Am I missing a fundamental step, or is this just a known inconvenience?

Perhaps I should boil it down to the question "Does TVSeries require the Season and Episode to successfully match the recording to a series, or can it do so with other available information?"

Yes.

Thou, you don't need season-number in each episode, you can put them in a sub-folder.

D:\Lost\Season 1\1.avi
D:\Lost\Season 1\2.avi

etc...

Right - though it still requires you to actually lookup the episode and season to name them and then put them in the corresponding folder

Maybe I'm not fully understanding the problem - if the app can screenscrape (or the xml interface, not sure which) thetvdb.com using the episode and season to locate the title and other information, why couldn't it use the title to match against?

Clearly, this wouldn't be AS accurate, but it may give you (the user) something to work with. Like I said before, this has probably come up elsewhere, so refer me there if theres further discussion. Thanks!

Well, it seems that MP's built in recorder only has only a couple of variables to provide a name for your recording: looks like channel, date/time recorded, show name, episode, season, and then title of show.

Unfortunately, like I said before, Zap2it doesn't provide episode or season - so that leaves you with the rest of the variables I listed to title your recordings.

And (correct me if I'm wrong), Zap2it is currently the only available option for television listings in the US.. so I think I'm just stuck for now.

Any thoughts?

Wow I found this and it is the EXACT Problem I have, I use zap2itxml to get my guide, but no season or episode numbers are included it seems. Can anyone help with this?

LOL on For the Record been there done that, I dont think they realize MP 1.1.3 exists. @app90033 - please stop saying that. As I already told you in another thread, it is working for many users. Really. I also advised you previously to visit their forums for support (if you want to use it). That is where the 4TR experts hang out.

I know that there is a warning message with their default installer saying it is not compatible. But there is ways around it - again: only if you want to use it, visit their forums for info on the modified tv plugin dll.

Of course I (we) appreciate your active involvement in the great MP community, and you are more than welcome to state that it does not work for YOU, but please no more general statements if you were already informed that it does indeed work.

Let's now keep this thread positive and on topic, but you are more than welcome to contact me per PM if you need clarity
