While attempting to install, the installer trys to download DirextX 9 and fails causing installer to crash. Shouldn't DirectX 11 be backwards compliant? It also wants to install WMP 11, I already have 12. Anyone else have this problem?

Are you running the installer with administrative privileges?

Ran as administrator, same result: Mediaportal Deploy Tool Error "There was an error downloading the requested file".

Hmmm, okay. Have you got any firewalls enabled (don't forget the one that's built in to Windows)?
