Install fails at MS SQL Express (1 Viewer)

I reformated my computer to do a fresh install. when i run the install tool when it gets to MS SQL Express it starts to install the blue screen of death flashes for a fraction of a second then it restarts. then ever time i turn on the pc as windows loads it restarts unless i go in in safe mode and delete the MS Sql files. i've tried installing SQl maually which works fine but media portal still says it is not installed when i run the install tool. Please help.

Interesting... Have you tried installing MySQL???

Not that it's comforting, but I had the exact same problem installing MP this week. In the end I tried MySQL and that worked fine.

Thanks for the help. I'll try mySQL when i get home. If i install my sql will i be able to use all my backed up databases from when i used SQL express?
