Install Of 2nd Seat Not Working (3 Viewers)

Hi,

I had a look at the manual today and I think installing the machine that will have the TV Server on it as "single seat" is OK. The other options are as a server only i.e. without the client or just the client - I could not see any installation options talking about setting it up to stream out to a client on another machine - so I think it's installed OK. Does that sound right to you? Did you select any options other than installing "single seat" when you set yours up??

So in summary, I did the following:

1. Setup the machine with the TV tuner card on it as "single seat"
2. Installed just the client on the machine I want to stream to
3. Opened the ports of the Windows Firewall as per instructions
4. Tried sharing folders on the "single seat" machine across the network sucessfully

Issues:

1. The 2nd seat machine hangs at the "Starting Window Plugins" screen, but only when connected to the network - boots straight up when disconnected - have to kill the process in Task Manager
2. No options in the streaming tab on the TV Server.

Really silly question time for the op but have you run tv server cofiguration on the server machine and is TVService running on the server?

You should really get some log files to see what is happening. Its very difficult to help without seeing at what point mp stops.

open mp configuration.exe and and the top left hand corner there is a button that will take you directly to logs directory.

do the same on the server machine but with setuptv.exe.

Yep - the machine which has the TV Server is the machine originally setup as single seat which I have been using up to now and it's all working fine.

Log files from MP Client (2nd seat) attached - I see there are some errors there referring to "A socket operation was attempted to an unreachable host". This has something to do with the IP Configuration, but I'm not up to speed with this sort of thing.

Did an ipconfig/all which shows the following:

Hi Again,

Realised that the Hostname under Television --> TV Client on the 2nd seat machine was set to an IP address as opposed to the logon name of the TV Server machine - the TV Server machine is assigned an IP Address when it boots up from S3 sleep.

The error I got back on the 2nd seat machine was as follows:

A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond 203.27.227.91:31456

The "31456" seems to refer to a remote control?

I'm not technical when it comes to IP Configuration setup, but does the IP address above have to be setup somewhere?? In the TV Server machine??

Any help appreciated with a bit of explaination on IP Address configuration appreciated.

I do not use ip address and it works. i just write the server computer name under TV section.

in your case i guess it would be PerkysPC as i understand that is the server computer. so try (if u have not tried already) to set PerkysPC in the client pc under tv section host name.

Have no idea where it got the IP Address and the 31456 is the Remote Control port ???

Gixxer is right. you only need use the name chosen for the tv server on the same network for it connect.

I would still like to see you reinstall it as advanced settings with Dedicated Master TV Server as the selection (it will still install the client to watch it on the server) and set up a manual ip address on your network... say 192.168.10.200

Setup the streaming server to identify it under that ip address and use the name of the tv server in the 2nd seat client to connect given they are all on the same network.

Perhaps one of the experts can explain why the client is picking up an external ip address for your client to connect to. using - IP Address Lookup (IPv4 & IPv6) it comes up unregonised whereas your NIC is connecting to your ISP - Xtra.co.nz

How have you setup your network?
