I used to have MP 1.5 installed on my computer and DVB-T TV worked fine!
I had to reformat my computer and reinstall it and now it fails to install all of the sudden.

When I point the installation folder to the folder where I downloaded the wmp11-windowsxp-x86-de-DE,
the Media Player 11 installation crashes with "Operation failed with 0x8007047F".

The installation does not continue afterwards and the TV Server is not even installed.
How can I fix this issue?
I don't have Windows Media Player 12 installed.
I am using Windows 8 (x64)

Thanks! But I had it working before on Windows 8, why shouldn't it work now? So Mediaportal will not work on Windows 8 then?
I thought WMP was an integral part of MP.

I'm not sure what you did previously, but like I said - I don't think it is possible to install WMP 11 on W8. A quick google seems to confirm...

So Mediaportal will not work on Windows 8 then?
Of course MP will work on W8. :)

    No, this is not right.
We require WMP to be installed because Microsoft includes updates to DirectShow (used for playing video) and BDA (tuner support) with WMP.

Thanks again for your reply. So MP should run fine w/o WMP then?
When I start the Server Configuration to preview a channel, all I hear is the sound, not I dont see the video.
I thought that had something to do with WMP failing to install. Any ideas on that matter?

MP may run fine without WMP, or it may not. Please read my previous post again. I said "we require WMP to be installed..." and gave the reasons. I strongly recommend that you install WMP 12.

This has nothing to do with WMP and everything to do with codecs.
You need codecs to play the video and audio. Preview uses the codecs with the highest "merit". Black video means that on your system the video codec with the highest merit is not able to play the stream. You can fix this by changing the merits of your video codecs.

...but having said that, I would ignore this problem. Video not showing in preview does not mean that video will not show in MP.
