I've recently upgraded with a Wintv nova s2. excellent card I think so far. easy to set up in MP. I get BBC HD fine. The problem Im having is that after 5mins to maybe 1 hour my pc seems to go off.
I say seems because it's not quite so simple. my on off neon flashes like the pc is in standby. I can't always press the power button to bring the pc back on I have to kill the power for a few seconds, maybe 15.
On restart it is a full cold boot and nothing is shown in the event logs or media-portal logs. Only the usual restart entries.
SD TV or video never causes this power down, in fact nothing else does.
I am not using any form of power management on this pc at the moment for testing.
I have used filmerit in case it was filter related. no joy.
hwmonitor shows no strange voltages or temperatures leading up to the event.
Anyone had anything similar or feel able to give any suggestions as to what could be up here? I'm scared that I'm going to get a head crash one of these times.

OK, didn't even think to try that. I'm testing new voltage right now. I'll let you know how that goes. Many thanks for taking an interest.

So I tried the timings on thte ram 4-4-4-12 and the pc wouldn't even post. After reseting the bios I tried 5-5-5-12. Still nothing. Finally I used thte settings I got from cpu z. Pc boots normally everything else is as was. Unfortunately this also includes power down during HD live tv. It's like standby that van't be recovered from unless I kill the power to the pc at the wall point or switch on the psu for 15-20 seconds. I have verified that in normal standby both mouse and keyboard can be used to recover.

Any ideas?

Sounds to me like your CPU is overheating, I had a simliar experience which I resolved by turning up the CPU fan speed (I have a variable fan speed on my CPU cooler).

I would also say that it sounds like its overheating! Check your BIOS settings - it will have a "Safe" temperature, and a setting on when to turn off the PC (e.g. when temp reaches 70degC)
