Internal DVD Player uses wrong aspect ratio (1 Viewer)

Well all, the topic pretty much says it! I can't seem to get the internal DVD player to use a decent aspect ratio. "Normal," "Zoom," and "Original" all look the same - and none of them is correct. I know this because playing the DVD in a normal DVD player, or in a player like ZoomPlayer results in the proper aspect ratio. Also, the problem differs from disc to disc. Is there any way around this? Or am I pretty much sunk?

Have you set pixel ration correction (can't remember the correct term) under settings in MP?

Tried it, it has no effect . I think I'm just going back to my stand-alone DVD player, I've tried everything I can think of... ZoomPlayer is nice, but way too clunky to use (MCE Remote doesn't work, etc).
