    Good day folks.

I am trying to get my Mediaportal 1 system connected to use IPTV and finding it a bit of a struggle. I do not know anything about the requirements that allow Mediaportal to use streaming IPTV, in fact the whole thing is new to me.

Having subscribed to a source of UK television that provides many different formats of the programming I have tried downloading the file I want and loading and scanning in DVB-IP IP source filter in TV Server Configuration. The TV server sees the file and scans the channels but at the end of the scan I have zero programs
The MediaPortal IPTV Filter and url source splitter also loads the file but on clicking the blue test button I get a red cross and file not suitable result
I have tried .m3u8 for Kodi, IP-TV Player and OTT Player, also .wpl, .mpcpl and vlc-txt file formats with no success. (I have used VLC to test the source and it runs them via link or file download, so I beleive the source files are good)

I think I need to get more information, or maybe a "walk-through" on setting up MediaPortal for this so I wonder if anyone could point me in the right direction?

Any advice or tips most gratfully received
    Cheers

The zero-programs result usually means the scan isn't finding the PAT/PMT for each stream, not that the URLs are bad. Since VLC plays them, the source itself is fine, but MediaPortal's IPTV filter is stricter about playlist format and stream headers. The merged filter in the MP1-4155 branch is reported to handle more protocols and edge cases than the older DVB-IP filter, so that's worth reading up on. Also check whether your provider's m3u8 entries need HTTP headers or a user agent that MediaPortal isn't sending by default. Starting with one known-good channel rather than the full list makes debugging easier.

Hello nicholasclark, thank you for your reply.
I was trying to get my Mum's MediaPortal TVPC up to date as the time has come to replace her television with a new "smart" TV. My though was not to get involved with the "Smart" TV, but get a dumb 4K LED Panel and run it from MediaPortal. Great to have a new TV with "The Smarts" but downside is that she will not be able to record her favourite channels to watch over and over!

I thought IPTV via MediaPortal would be just the thing but it is much too technical for me to undertake

I subscribed to Shavaroz thinking I could give her the standard free channels and more, but after struggling I have thrown in the towel
The new TV's have "Freely" so it is much less bother all around especially for me as I will not be responsible for the upkeep of the system for her, (clearing out hundreds of hours of recorded TV from ITV3!)

Thanks again for your message, much appreciated
    Regards
    TW
