Hey all,
First off, Kudos to a great product! I've only been playing around with it a bit so far but I plan to create a HTPC once I know I can IR blast with it.

So what I have read so far spoke about the MCE replacement plug-in and whatnot. Then I read that the plug-in was no longer supported and that IR blasting was now incorporated into MediaPortal?

So my question is: Is there a document that focuses on IR blasting?

As stated I have a Rogers Digital box in Canada so I can't decode my signal. IR blasting would allow me to schedule recordings correct?

And lastly I haven't yet tried, but does anyone know if there are any problems working with my $25 tuner card and/or the built in IR receiver/remote? (Superdigital Phillips chipset SAA7130)

I know a lot of questions, but I am just hoping someone can aim me in the right direction :D

Great recommendation! I appreciate it!
However I am having problems with it recognizing my IR/remote.

For my IR all I have in my device list is "Built-in Infrared Device"

I've tried all the settings and the auto-detect didn't work.

I'm gonna scavenge around for some other people working with the same cheap card.

Any other suggestions are welcome!

So I have continued looking and came across WinLIRC, but of course it doesn't support IRda... Which is how my IR is recognized.

Any other ideas? Other than to go buy a Haupauge? haha

I would recomend buying a MCE remote personaly, I paid $40 Aus. I think there are cheap chinese rip off ones now too.....

Or you could build a home brew serial port one for about $10. I went down this path when I was using Mythtv.

Thanks for the suggestion guys.

I decided to go buy a $60.00 Hauppauge WinTV-Go from a local store with a 30 day no questions return policy. If I don't get my PVR going by the I will return it and spend some actual money on a real card.

It's an analogue tuner, but like I said, I can't decode Rogers digital anyways.

So I have my remote working great and have figured out the code for IR blasting my Digital box using the supplied blaster and MP recognizes my card.

Now my goal is to use Media Portal through Composite (or S-video) from my Digital box and use my Hauppauge remote to blast to it. Should work in theory right?

I am looking through the documentation now, but does anyone know if Media Portal does PVR through composite or S-video? or if MP will be able to relay my remote to blast my digital box?

It's a lot to ask I know but as I said I'm gonna keep looking and will post my results if I figure it out.
