Is it possible to pull video content from other LAN encoder (1 Viewer)

Hi all,

I have fully configured the Media Portal server. The problem is I could not find ways to connect MP server with my Digital Rapid encoder. Is it possible for the MP server to pull content / video from Digital Rapid encoder / windows media encoder (installed at another network computer)?

Hi and welcome Enginius

From a quick look at there website it looks like Digital Rapid encoders are not tuner devices. With the exception of the Hauppauge Colossus and HD-PVR we only support capture (encoder) inputs on tuner cards. In other words I don't think we directly support your encoder. If you can find some kind of BDA tuner emulator (maybe DVBLink???) that supports your encoder then you *might* be able to get it working with TV Server/MediaPortal. Sorry it is not better news.

Thanks for your prompt response. What I am planning to do is to make MediaProtal as the Middleware for my LAN-IPTV. My source would be from VoD server, DVB-S gateway and also network encoder (Digital Rapid and Windows Media Encoder). Is the any other solution/software (FOSS) out there can works like that MediaPortal but able to pull video source form network encoder / VoD? ..

Not that I'm aware of. Almost certainly not for Windows. The issue is (1) not too many general purpose TV viewing or HTPC applications support WDM interfaces (analog tuners, capture inputs, encoders) these days and (2) there aren't too many open source HTPC applications for Windows out there in the first place. I'm not saying there aren't any - I'm just not currently aware of any that would do everything that you want. I'd be happy to be proved wrong for your benefit of course. Maybe MythTV on Linux could do it (?).
