Hi, wasnt sure quite where to put this question, if it's the wrong sub-forum please feel free to move as necessary mods. I have Mediaportal setup exactly as I'd like using it for online videos, TV series & films.

However I dont currently use it for watching live tv. I have a cable tv service currently, through Virgin media. Is it possible to run this through Mediaportal at all?

    Hi,
    it should be possible!
You have to find out what technique your provider uses (I dont know what Virgin media is) and if its DVB-C, its just a TV-card that you need. :)

    Hope that helpd somewhat...

I seem to remember reading somewhere that the UK cable services don't use DVB. I don't know if that's still true for all of them, but you would need to check that, as the previous poster mentioned.

It is possible to have VM running through MP, but is not supported. You will need a DVB-C card as noted earlier, (best place for these is ebay.de) but it will only get you 3 to 4 channels running on freeview for the rest you must be willing to put a lot of time and effort into researching some forums....

remember that it's against VMs Ts & Cs to use equipment not supplied by them. Having said that, how would they know? If you want more assitance, PM me, I'll try to help you out.

I watch Virgin cable via my HTPC using a TechnoTrend C-1501 card and it works well.
So in answer to your question, yes you can :)
