I am dev .NET and knows this kind of problem well.
I think that it is very interesting to produce a tool to help the skin-designer in their spot. However, I would then need the assistance of skin-designer to explain me different the functionality from the skin engine.

Was there any development of a skin editor? Im new to MP and I am quite interested in creating a 1920x1080 skin and the help from an editor would be great.

I am quite sure that there never will be a skineditor for MP1.

I recommend that you try modifying current skins (modift XML and graphics). Currenty there is only on 1080x1920 skin ; MEDIAPORTAL - free MediaCenter HTPC Software - SpinSafe 1080 v0.4
