Hi, I have sometimes strange problems on satellite TV and I think they are graph related. I was wanderind if there is a way to know what Graph Filter MP uses in different sections (e.g. when watching TV) so that I can make tests with different graphs. Using Radlight Filter Manager I noticed that there are several Demultiplexers installed on my PC, is there a way to force MP use a multiplexer instead of another?

Thanks.

I think I found the answer myself. I downloaded a new version of graphedit and found a button "Connect to a running grah in another application", I'll play with this a bit. Anyway if someone has suggestions is always welcome.

What would be great is the ability to use saved graphs in MP (depending on file format). Of course it would be an advanced user fuctionality but I believe the database of graphs made by users over time would be able to satisfy all different situations and codec mixes...

Unable to connect to remote graph

Hi,

I want to see the directshow graph being used by mediaportal, but graphedit shows nothing in the window "Select a remote graph to view". I suppose I need to enable something in mediaportal to expose its graph to graphedit, but how can I do that?

What I'm doing:
-Run graphedit for DirectX 9.0 Build 021204
-Run mediaportal 0.2.3.0
-Start TV and let it play live tv
-Select "Conect to remote graph" in Graphedit

and nothing shows up, even pressing refresh.

Thank you.

    TestTool exports direct show graphs
Written by infinityloop, on 16-11-2007 08:21

We have added a nice little feature to the MediaPortal TestTool.

On WindowsXP it is now able to capture all created direct show graphs and create a jpg image of it.

This means that if you encounter some video/audio issues when playing media in MediaPortal, then you no longer have to download graphedit or DSGraphEdit to connect to the graph and find out which filters are used.

Since MediaPortal 0.2.3.0 you only have to start MediaPortal with the MediaPortal Debug shortcut from your start menu and play the media file which causes troubles.

After that the TestTool automatically creates a zip file which contains all logs and the jpg's of the created graphs.

This zip can then be attached to your support thread in the forums, so other team members and community members can have a look and help you with your problem.

As said befor, this works nicely in WindowsXP. In Windows VISTA it does not work out of the box. The reason is that Microsoft has (re-)moved some resources.

If you have the VISTA SDK (1185.7MB) installed, then the TestTool is also able to create jpg's of the directshow graphs (we are not allowed to re-distribute the required VISTA SDK files with MediaPortal).

We hope that you enjoy (and use) this new feature.

    Hi Spragleknas,

    Thanks for your rapid reply.
I've just used MPTestTool launching it from the "MediaPortal Debug" shortcut and directly, but the generated zip file doesn't contain any jpeg files. Nor playing live tv nor playing an avi (xvid) file.
Is it supposed to generate them by default or I have to tell it somehow?
Can I use the "connect to remote graph" feature of graphedit in previous versions of Mediaportal? what about tv-server?

    Some notes:
    I'm using Windows XP.
    I've tried it in 0.2.3.0 RC3 and 0.2.3.0 stable.

    Thanks.

the generated zip file doesn't contain any jpeg files.

I found that you have to play a video (one second is enugh) and stop it ("B" on keyboard or stop on remote) before exiting MP to get the data gathered, then i got a jpeg file with the graph.

    Regards

    Hi again:

Something seems messed up in my main computer, as I tried in another one and it worked.
Nor graphedit, dsgraphedit or the built-in jpeg generator can show me the graph. Who knows. Anyway, if someone has any clue, please tell me as I don't feel like reinstalling. By now I already know that reinstalling should never be the solution.
