is there any way to turn off the flashing power light? or it specific to BIOS etc

Disconnect it from motherboard, should be labeled as "power led"

Unfortunately never seen this option in any bios that i have looked at.

thought that would be the only way to get rid of it.

unfortunately that also means that i don't know if the system is on or off :D

well i've played about the the power settings and enable "Power on" for all the HID devices i have in the device manager, but i still can't turn the PC back on using the remote control.

i even enabled all the "wake up" option in the bios, and still nothing.

looks like i'll have to settle for S3

Yes, with Hibernate, you lose the remote functions, standby is the best choice for The ability to do more things with your hardware.

    lol :D

funny, MCE remote is able to wake up my HTPCs from S4 (hibernate) ;)

i have noticed that some onboard USB chipsets and additional PCI - USB cards, are not providing power on USB when system is in S3 or S4.

on some systems you have to set a jumper to provide the power to be able to resume the PC with the remote.

when your system is in S4, and you press any button on your MCE remote, and the red light on the receiver is not flashing, then the receiver does not get power from the USB-port. <<--- therfore you can not wale it up ;)

I would also always attach the remote-receiver directly to your USB port. i have seen some very weird issues caused by USB-Hubs.

my USB receiver is connected to the on-board USB port.
and when i press a button no light flashes on the receiver. so no power is going to it.

i will have a look thru my board manual to see if there is a jumper for this.
