    Hi,

    As of today, 6/6/2011, the tuning parameters for transponder 10847V (holding BBC HD and BBC One HD) have changed.
    BBC - BBC Internet Blog: Changes to BBC HD channels on satellite on 6th June

    I tried to scan the transponder within TV Server Configuration using "advanced tuning options" to limit the scan to this specific transponder. I also ensured that the "Enable DVB-S2 channels tuning/scanning" checkbox was checked.
    Specific tuner parameters were:
    • Frequency: 10847
    • Symbol Rate: 23000
    • Polarisation: LinearV
    • Modulation: QPSK
    However, when scanning, MP tells me that there is no signal on this frequency.

    As this didn't work, I manually updated the TuningParameters file for Astra2D to ensure proper tuner settings for TP10847V (as these hadn't yet been adapted) into:
    <Transponder>
    <CarrierFrequency>10847000</CarrierFrequency>
    <Polarisation>LinearV</Polarisation>
    <SymbolRate>23000</SymbolRate>
    <Modulation>ModNotSet</Modulation>
    <InnerFecRate>Rate8_9</InnerFecRate>
    <Pilot>NotSet</Pilot>
    <Rolloff>NotSet</Rolloff>
    </Transponder>
    I then did a complete scan of all TP's but when it tried to scan this transponder, MP returned the same error telling me there was no signal.

    My capture card is a Technotrend TT-Budget S2-3200. I have installed the latest BDA driver from the manufacturers website (5.0.1.8). The documentation that came with the card clearly specifies that the card can handle DVB-S2.

    Am I missing something here?
    Anyone else come across this problem?

    Regards,

    Peter

    Hi Peter

    The settings you've used will mean that the transponder is not treated as DVB-S2. Your tuning details need to at least use ModQpsk (or at least *not* ModNotSet). Ideally the correct pilot and rolloff settings should also be determined. I can't seem to find them though...

    That did the trick. :D
    I changed the tuningparameters to:
    <Transponder>
    <CarrierFrequency>10847000</CarrierFrequency>
    <Polarisation>LinearV</Polarisation>
    <SymbolRate>23000</SymbolRate>
    <Modulation>ModQpsk</Modulation>
    <InnerFecRate>Rate8_9</InnerFecRate>
    <Pilot>NotSet</Pilot>
    <Rolloff>NotSet</Rolloff>
    </Transponder>
    And MP scanned the transponder without issues.

    I also found out why the "Use Advanced Tuning Options" function didn't work.
    In that section, you are not able to specify the FEC Rate, which has changed from 5/6 to 8/9.
    Scanning through the logs showed that the default FEC rate wasn't correct.

    Another question: How do I ensure the Tuningparameters list gets updated? Do I need to start a thread with one of the devs somewhere?

    Regards,

    Peter

    Hi again Peter

    You've done the right thing by submitting the new tuning details in the thread you started. We'll take care of it from there. Regarding the FEC rate: you can set that in 1.2.0b. ;)

    Thanks very much for this, Pletskop, I've been having the same problem but was sure someone here would have solved it.

    Thanks from me also - I've now got the 2 channels back:D. I can also confirm that you can get these two channels without modifying the Tuningparameters file by using the advanced tuning functions in 1.2.0b

    Thanks.

    It worked for me too without modifying the tuningparameters file by using the "advanced tuning options" in 1.1.2.0.

    - update the satelite list
    - edit the advanced tuning options
    - scan for channels

    Gig,
    What changes did you make in "Advanced Tuning options" for V 1.1.2

    I updated the satelite list did a rescan for channels still could not find the BBC HD & ONE

    Try scanning with the following settings.

    Frequency: 10847000 kHz
    Polarisation: Vertical (LinearV)
    Symbol Rate: 23000 ksps
    Modulation: QPSK (ModQpsk)

    It isn't guaranteed to work for all tuners. For certainty you'd need to add the frequency to the tuning detail file (click "update satellite list") so that FEC, pilot and roll-off can be set. Either that or upgrade to 1.2.0b...

    Doing a rescan with Advanced Tuning options didn't work for me either. I manually edited both channels tuning details as per Plekstop's details above and that worked fine.
