I'm using Zoom Player to play all my videos. DVD rips on hard disk play fine. But DVD discs don't.
ZP is launched, screen goes black and ... nothing. These discs play fine in ZP outside of MP.
What's going on ?
Thank you.

I had that problem with zoom player as well. Putting /PLAY in the parameters section fixed that problem for me. However I can not get zoom player to play DVDs on my hard drive through Mediaportal. I use the %filename% parameter under the movie player section but it still will not open the file, it goes straight to playing from the dvd player. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

For VIDEO_TS on hard disk, the command line I use is : /F /Q /LOCKFS /PLAY /MOUSEOFF %filename%. It works fine.
For DVD disks, I use : /F /Q /LOCKFS /DVD /PLAY /MOUSEOFF %filename%. And it does not work ...

Interesting, I tried your settings for playing off the hard drive and it still doesn't work. How do you set up your file structure for movies on your hard drive? Also, for my DVD settings I use: /OPENDRIVE:F /PLAY
I do not use the %filename% and it works, I would give that a try.

Sorry for my last message, it's wrong.
Actually, I use the same command line for ripped and discs : /F /Q /LOCKFS /DVD /PLAY /MOUSEOFF %filename%
On hard drive, I keep the DVD file structure (VIDEO_TS directory).
It works great for ripped, just have to select parent folder in MP, which contains VIDEO_TS folder.
It does not work for physical discs.

I will try your DVD setting ...

Deckard,

I having been playing around further, and been looking through the logs to figure out what is going on. I think the problem is that MP is passing the parameters I had set in the DVD section to the Movie section. This is the parameters I have set:

DVD
/OPENDRIVE:F /PLAY

Movies
%filename%

However, when I try to play a movie I have ripped to my hard drive, I found this in the MediaPortal.log:

2008-01-21 11:49:31.765625 [Info.][MPMain]: video database opened
2008-01-21 11:49:33.734375 [Info.][MPMain]: g_Player.Play(D:\Matt's Documents\DVDs\A New Hope\video_ts\VIDEO_TS.IFO)

However, when I delete the /OPENDRIVE:F /PLAY parameters in the DVD section, MP opens the ripped movies just fine. I am not sure if this helps you at all, but I think I am going to ask the question to the greater MP community to see if there is something I can do.

Thanks

I think it's normal. No matter it's on hard drive or on disc, you want to read a DVD structure.
MP recognizes this and use DVD command line. That's why you need to put %filename%.
IMHO, it's a pretty good behaviour.

In your case, hitting "A new Hope" entry in MP should launch ZP.

Now, I still don't understand why it does not work with physical discs ...

I put in the parameters exactly as you have them and playing DVDs off the hard drive works, like in your case. However, when I try to play a physical disc it always plays the last selected DVD from the hard drive. Is there a Zoom Player setting that will fix both our problems playing physical discs?

I just answered my own questions, after putting in your parameters and unchecking "Remember Playlist when exiting player" under the Playlist section of Zoom Player both physical DVDS and DVDs off the hard drive are now working.

I am not sure if that will help your situation or not. When it is sitting at a blank screen what happens when you push P on your keyboard? What are the logs saying? Thanks for your help, this problem has been really been bugging me.

I do remember having this problem too in the past. And I solved this with the same setting you give.
I need to spend some times again on this. As I keep all my medias on my NAS, I don't often use physical discs.
But it's bugging me just as it was bugging you ...
