I can't seem to get it to work!!
I've installed everything and the MediaPortal software starts, but I can't get the ÇTv, 'cos everytime I turn on "My Tv" from the MediaPortal menu it asks me what's the IP or Host Name, and I don't know!, I've type the IP, but nothing happends, and I don't know the Host Name!!

And also, how can I configure my remote control? I don't see it in any list of drivers, it's a Wand Media from a Advantek Tv card...

If you could help, I woul thank you so very much... XD

I still don't understand it!!!!!
Oh My God!!!
I was able to config the tv server with the IP, but i still can't get the tv to show me the channels!
I can't find the way to scan the channels, and still can't find the way to get working my remote control!!
or how to do anything with Media Portal!!
I mean, it start all right, i can play with the menus fine, but there's nothign on the My Movies or My Music!!
I already config with the Media Portal Config, which folders have the movies, and which folders have the music, and what codecs to run, etc..

Please!!! isn't there a "Media Portal for Dummies" out there?

BTW the reason that this is so frustrating for me is that i'm no new in media or informatics, i'm a film student specializing in film editing and post production, and my life has been develop this the craddle in front of a computer, so it hurts for me not to be able to run this program, besides i just the tv card and the software that comes with it it's such a shitty software that it hurts twice...

Please!!!

    OK Start with TVServer Configuration.
    1. Check to ensure your card is recognised. It should be listed under the TV Server section. You may need to expand the mens by clicking on the plus signs.
    2. If you can see your TV Card, click on the name in the left hand menu. Now on the right hand side, you should be able to select the country you are in and then select Scan Now button in the lower right hand corner. This will take from 5 -30 minutes depending on how many channels you have.
    3. Once you have done this, close the TV Server Configuration and open the MediaPortal COnfiguration.
    4. Find the TV Client section in the menu and enter the IP address of the machine that you installed MediaPortal on (I am assuming you only installed MediaPortal on the one machine). Now click OK to close
    5. Start Mediaportal and check your TV section to see it now works.

If it does not work, then open up a command prompt and try pining the ipaddress (eg. ping 192.168.0.1)you entered in the TV Client section. You should get a reply. If you don't the ipaddress or network has problems.
If you get a reply, check in the services control panel that the TV Server Service is running. Right click on My Computer and select manage.

other than that, I would suggest posting your log files so others can help with your issues.
