Hi Community,
i just love MediaPortal. Super Programm with a very helpfull an active community!

I have an Idea for skins.
Look at my screenshot. I have so many movies in the database. So if I want to jump to the movies which start with K i have to scroll down all the way to K. So it takes a lot of time.

Is it possible to create buttons with letters, so if you click on it the list jumps directly to the movies which start with the letter you clicked on?

You can press the ´5´ two times to go to k.... just like Text messaging on your phone..

ya... and the channel up/down buttons work like page skip, even on my remote.

I agree that there needs to be some way of easily managing hundreds of films.

I'm just not too sure how!

That looks a lot like xface, so it does excist

About the abc thingy; MP is made with a dedicated HTPC in mind(or at least that what I've understood), and for me that means using a remote. I just use the number buttons on the remote as a sms keyboard to jump in the list. But I understand some people really wants to use the mouse, and for them this come in really handy. But I would remove such letters from any skinfile I use, because its not necceseary for me, and for a lot of people +it makes the skin look more busy then needed.

And it works fine with sms keyboard, I have almost 400 movies.

Thats fine if you know what you want to watch, but how about when you want to browse, and dont want to scroll down through hundreds of films.

Some sort of column view would be good - ala iTunes - so select the Genre then select from there, or select the year and then select film etc. I guess this can probably be setup, as can be done with the music database.

Maybe today i want to see "something with Bruce Willis", or "a new action film" or "a disney animation", how about "something i havent watched in a long time"

you get the idea!

Maybe something could be done similar to the Smart Playlist plugin for music - but for video?

EDIT: you know what - i might ask the smart playlist author how easy it would be to make a similar plugin for movies...

That isn't hard to implement but you also have to change the sourcecode of the plugins.
This can't be done with just changes in the skin files.
